Afterhours, Squid Kids Dad and BigFish Fish The Race

We met early yesterday morning at the Canal rotary and headed to Eastham for an early breakfast and then headed out onto Race Point. The day was gray and the wind was blowing hard in our face....it looked great for fishing and proved to be so! With fish pushed up close to the beach and birds showing frequently we began casting and were into fish immediately, bluefish, and after landing a few 7 pounders we moved up the beach were we found some bass and SKD landed himself a nice fat 32 inch keeper on a tin! He was happy! We ran up and down the beach all day long....hitting fish almost everywhere we stopped that "smelled fishy" fishing was consistent. The surf was quite angry but we enjoyed the salt spray in our face, the landing of nice fish, and alot of laughs! I must say that Afterhours hammered fish a good part of the day. It seemed he was on every time I looked over and SKD was no slouch either! Great guys to fish with to be sure! Afterhours also boxed a nice 30 incher.....bastard!!! I was reserved to bluefish duty and it was a ball....we had a few about 9 pounds and feisty! We had intended to fish more wood, but conditions required we use some heavy metal, though some fish were taken on topwater plugs from time to time. Some pluggage was passed about and it was sweet! Thanks Don! After a full day of running the sand we hit a fine restaurant for a good dinner and to reflect on a great day! Thanks guys for a great day and we will get out again soon I trust!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Funny story......

Early in the day I had lost one of my polaris poppers....bummed out of course about that. Just before we left the Race...we stopped at Hatches Harbor to make a few casts and as I stepped into the water....I noticed something strange floating in the water about 10 feet from me in 4 feet of water.....it was my polaris that I lost about 8 hours earlier and about a mile further down the beach when the tide was dropping to boot!!!! Figured it was never to be seen again....there it was on the incoming tide....back in the bag!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Thumbs up

Yup..What a great day it was fishing the Race with Afterhours and our guide Bigfish..lol.W e agood amount of fish & a lot of laughs...Thanks for the pluggage Don & Larry...
I cleaned that fish about midnight when I was about half asleep...Man I am a wee bit sore today but its a good sore...
If anyone gets a chance to fish with Don , just to let you know he can smell the fish...
Also I am glad I got a chance to visit such a historic place on the Race..The outer most out house..Even tho everyone was watching..
Again thanks Larry and Don for a great day on the beach!!!!

I'm going where I'm going...
