Ironic ??

It really is ironic. It seems that the person that got everyone all riled up yesterday, the one that started that thread that has attacked one of the most unselfish contributors to this site, spends probaly the most time asking questions on this board. This individual asks more questions about various topics than most. This person also has the audacity to challenge Fisherwoman under a name different than what he normally posts by. Said individual also stuck up for her under his normal name later on in the thread. I really hope that I'm wrong about this "JAY" but I don't think so. Don't ask and praise under one name and then play nasty under another name. Uncool.

I've turned on IP addresses on. This allows people to see when their chain is being pulled so to speak. After having searched through all of the ip addresses over the past few months. This same one came up under another "Frequent" questioner.

Don't be a hypocrate and tweak someone under one alias and stick up for them under another. This is one of the problems with the annonymity of the Internet.

In short "Jay", I think you owe someone an apology.

John

It is indeed ironic. Nothing like cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Maybe this is too much to ask, and quite selfish of me but this "Jay" person cost all of us one very nice knowledgable lady. Thus being said, everyone on this board deserves an apology.

Fisherwoman, if you are still reading the board, please, everyone wants you to come back. Don't let one person ruin it for you and everyone else.

You're a better man than me, John. If I ran the site and was smart enough to figure something like this out(I do not run the sight and I am not smart enough), that would be grounds for me to revoke rights on that person.

I mean, really, that has got to be the lamest thing I've ever heard. Somebody that would do something like that has got to be very mean spirited and have way too much time on their hands.

Fisherwoman, I for one have enjoyed reading your posts all year, in particular early in the year when you were catching a bunch of fish. It was those posts that spurred me to get out on the water a few weeks earlier than I otherwise would have. You seem to catch more fish on some days than many do all season, so you certainly have no reason to listen to this "anonymous" clown.

Yep, we've all seen this before, haven't we? Anyone who tries to be helpful and share their knowledge gets looked upon as a hot-shot know it all by some ingrates and gets pot-shotted from behind the anonymity of a keyboard. It's happened to me and it's happened to #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. Bill and I have always fought these battles right out front and man-to-man with whoever it was that was sniping at us.

Webmasters have a few tricks up their sleeves for occasions such as these. I'm not sure whether John used those or is just going by almost identical IP addresses. The only thing that keeps me from blasting the subject is that we have all also seen cases where two different people are assigned the same IP addy by their ISP. Normally happens with some of the larger ones, especially AOL, and I don't think that's the case here--I'm 97% sure that John is on the right track. But that 3% chance saved the guy a public roasting from me. But I will say this, I won't be as forthcoming with answers for that suspect in the future.

RE:Ironic ??

AOL is really a bad ISP when it comes to IP numbers. I don't know how your ISPs work but with AOL, you dial into a local server that connects you to the big AOL server. I have about 5 local servers and each server has a majority of numbers. If you are in an even more populated area than good old Fairfield such as anywhere else imaginable, you could have dozens of local servers with literally hundreds of numbers. I use mostly the same number because I get a good connection with it. If it is busy or I have trouble staying connected, I might try another line. That is why my IP number changes sometimes. On some other boards, they claimed to know my IP address but I knew it was total bunk. They know one of my IP addies. I could use the other dozen numbers and pull out with a different one. Ever notice when something is screwy, either Microsoft or AOL is behind it? Hmmmm. Conspiracy theory.

RE:Ironic ??

Mike, I believe this to be 98% true based on several factors. There has been only person to use that same network address and smaller ISP since the beginning of this site. That individual has also used the same IP address on several occasions. This makes it still possible but highly unlikely to be wrong. The other option is someone using the same machine...

Blitz, I really don't want to toss people (even though there could be some quick gratification ). There is still an honorable way out. You might be suprised by the people that have been tossed from numerous boards and then can mellow out a bit and become contributors. We are seeing a certain individual that has one of the higest surf message board toss ratios acting very unselfish and positive. Something many people would have thought unlikely. Keep up the good work JJ!!

The good news is that Fisherwoman e-mailed me and she's fine and will be back. She was pretty tweaked and chose not to respond in kind. I don't like seeing friends get tourched and I'm glad that this will be over with...

C'mon Mike I've known you for 20 years or so and you are a Know-it-all! LOL Just kidding as some of you know and will find out "trolls" can reek havoc on these meesage boards. I do alot of reports on fresh water sites for bass fishing and most responses are positive. If poeple E-mail me or ask ? i will respond but some people take hits on others especially if they are succesful. What happens is those reporting will NEVER report again which is everybody's loss.
