Last Sunday I headed up to my brothers place in southern Maine. I figured I'd leave a little later than usual after having fished Saturday for almost 20 hours straight. I leave the house around noon time, thinking I'd let the "beach" crowd clear the highway some. Three miles from The Hampton tolls, traffic is at a dead stop. It took me nearly an hour to reach the tolls, which I have an EZpass for, but that didn't matter because most of the people arriving at the tolls in the EZpass lane realize they should'nt be there and they are now zig zagging from one lane to another to get out of the lane their in! By now I'm rippin mad and I figure my EZpass probably saved me 5 minutes if that! I can't help but wonder how much fuel is wasted with all the cars just crawing along, stop and go for an hour so the state can get their lousy buck especially with the price of fuel these days. How much pollution is spewed into the air at the same time? I think what this country and auto makers need to do is install in every new vehicle an EZpass transmitter (they're cheap), take down all the tolls across the country and replace them with receivers and let the traffic move along. Something needs to be done before someone goes ballistic.
