Freshwater Bass Gift Idea?

My friend/co-worker is having a surprise 30th birthday party and I was hoping to get him a little freshwater tackle. He’s just starting out and it seems like he fishes mostly with bait but I’d like to get him a couple lures/crankbaits or something like that. I don’t know the first thing about bassin’ in freshwater so I’m hoping someone could make a few recommendations. Looking for stuff that I could pick up at Wallyworld or #^&#^&#^&#^&’s.

Thanks for your help.

My favorites: 6" sluggos, shallow shad raps, heddon tiny torpedos. For smallmouth, those yum crayfish should be illegal.

Rapalas, Especially the Suspending kind. I am a big fan of the Senkos for Rubbah as well as the 4" and 6" Sluggos

Hula Poppers and Zara Spooks and Puppies too.

All those lures are great, but the most easy & proof way to get Freshwater bass both Lg & Sm mouth are Senkos. Wally world has the tiki worm or wave worms. They catch fish...a lot of fish. You don't even have to move them.

Early morning, nothing beats a buzz-bait or a spinnerbait, white in color, after the sun comes up, dark jigs with a trailer tossed right into the heavy stuff, and as the sun dips away, anything of the surface that makes noise, the ol' jitterbug still catches pre-dark fish all the time

Senkos are great in red flake motor oil or any dark color. Chug bugs, spinner baits in white and yellow, jerk baits, and ya gots to love rattle traps. I kinda gave up tournament fishing and my box weighs a ton. Lures catch fisherman.....not fish.

My daughter gave me a window sticker for my car. It has a realistic plastic largemouth bass head and it is made to look like it is "bursting" through the glass. It is made by the same company that makes the basball stick-ons that look like a baseball is lodged in your window. Frankly, I dont think I am going to put it on, but it is funny as hell.
A good gear idea is the watch battery operated light up bobbers. Those are the best damn thing you can use at night.

I'm heading to #^&#^&#^&#^&'s now.

#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&,

I tried to get him to see the light with saltwater and he continues to persue those tiny fish so I don't trust him to buy his own stuff for that reason

well since I only night fish....both types of water....
I'd say Black Jitterbugs for top waters the 5/8 oz ones and with out the rattles and a 3/0 oz blk spinnerbait with a colorado or indiana blade....(a Big blade)

Thumbs up

I went with some senkos, gami hooks, a suspending rapala and a skitterwalk. the skitterwalk murders schoolies so I figured I'd grab the freshwater version for him. they went over well. thanks again for the help.
