Dood has a sick shop! (and I'm a contractor....) Looks like I need to visit again, lot more plugs than two weeks ago......

How does an engineer collect so much good shop chit?

Hey yous guys be nice. I don't want my dirty laundry aired on the internet. You should have seen the looks on the guys faces last nite at work when I belt sanded flats on 50 AYC plugs. What the hell is that stink

Nice job Rick on the dup. nice engineering and the plugs look great. On that note I will now offer one bit of advice. You might, in the future, want to raise up your base that you have the tool holder on. The reason is you can then lower your tool height. I think if you do this you will find the control and stability of your tool will make it easier to work with especially with harder varieties of wood and the fatigue factor in your hands will decrease because you won't have to press so hard to keep the tool from s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g down. Also I might have something in the cutting tool area that you might be interested in. Will make a big difference. Other than that it is great. Enjoy and be safe. P.

ProfessorM - Thanks!! I totally agree about the tool height. I believe the bed on the shopsmith is much lower than a normal lathe. My mistake was mounting the "surface plate" directly to the bed without raising it.....That being said, it has worked out real well all in all. I get a little "chatter" when taking big bites on harder woods, but a little finese takes care of it.......pm me about the tool, I'm always interested in ideas......thx

Karl I am waiting to get pulled over some nite as I drive home late at night and cops are usually looking for something to do late. Hopefully they will be fishermen.

Nice looking dannys Ric.

What's new in your shop this year??? I know you were going to retire one of the Shopsmiths.

Me, I am just about finished cleaning up the dust, cutoffs, and other assorted chit left in the shop from a summer of run and gun shopwork (ie. no time = no clean up.....) Should be able to get the Shopsmith set up around Christmas. I am moving cut table into main shop an putting paint booth where the chop saw was. New dust collection early next year. (assuming we get some more work..... been slow.)

Also trying to set up a table to rewrap a couple rods. Might have room when all of the fishing gear is stowed in plastic bins.

Nightfighter - Not much going on. Just starting up the "operation" for the winter months....Keeping both shopsmiths in action, but i did get a Delta Mini with a Vega Duplicator......Still having some set up issues with the duplicator, but working on it. I got some aluminum extrusion from work that is perfect for making a "expandable" power wrapper for rod building...thats my next project. The plan is to make a bad a$$ conventional stick.. By the way, I have a few extra pieces of extrusion if someone is looking for some to make a rod making bad.

My diagnosis.....Pluggers lung and Fishin' pox.... no known cure, those affected should seek out, dusty locations surounded by implements designed to make saw dust and wood chips, that will result in devises best used to lure Striped fishes to hooks attached to said wooden devises..
