I want to fish as many ASA and WFL tournaments this year. Anybody planing on fishing any of the non-local ones? Should we set a Striped-Bass.com Team?

Any word if ASA will be coming back to Ma. and surounding states ?
I exchanged a few emails with Ken Wente a while back and he said they were thinking about it.

If ASA comes back they better have someone new running it or no one will enter.

ASA's website says there is a tournament in August in Middleon, Ma.
Where the heck is Middleton?

Seems like a strange place for a tournament.

I'd guess that the tourny is being held out of Eastcoast Flightcraft, a Fountain dealer (Fountain now owns the ASA). I'd stay away from that "business". There is a river close by.

The 2007 Schedule just came out on their website a few days ago. There is only one tournament out of Mass thiss year. The first tournament of the season was a little over a week ago in VA. FLW still didnt get their schedule up yet, there are going to quite a few changes there.

Yes FLW is going to make some changes for this year, a few of the locations that didn't do well are going to be eliminated from the line up.
We thought/ suggested they add Rhode Island as a location but they dan't have plans to add R.I. yet.
Quincy Ma will be eliminated !
West Dennis Ma. was their best location for turnout and fish caught.

Ron, they might be scaling down in tournaments also.....They really expected a much bigger tournout in all the tournaments. I think the average tournament had around 50 boats...

The average was less !!!
West Dennis had the best turn out and was less that 50 teams/boats.
And yes, they will be having less tournaments and no championship
As we were told at the championship "they are taking a step back to mover foreward" and let it grow!
Also,
The Championship will be in Fox sports next sunday (1-28-07 ) 11:00am

Did the ASA thing for a few seasons and got some money but not enough to make it worthwhile. Lots of hype for poor turnouts and small prize money because of it.
I realize its not about the money buts its not cheap to do these things for no return. The new ASA is owned by Fountain and is kinda geared toward their crowd. In my honest opinion the ASA is a total waste of time and money.
Although not entering any FLW tourney's I have heard good things and may enter the CT. leg this season. Sounds like a fun format and a good group behind it.
All in all tourneys are a blast as long you keep it fun. I have a hard keeping it fun sometimes.
