World Record Striper Mount - For Sale

I thought you guys might find this interesting, a local bait & tackle shop by me is selling the originial mount of Al McReynolds record 78.8lb Striper with signed docs from the taxidermist who in fact just reconditioned it back in 04/05..

Asking Price is $20,000.00 or/and accepting serious offers....

On the sidenote - rumor has it that Al sold it along with the entire contents of his attic for $2000.00 years ago

Also at this time donations are being taken up for the possibility of it being donated to the IGFA Museum...

Your Thoughts ?????

$ 20,000

buys the gear and the means to make a serious run at your own world record... and at the VERY least youll have a HELL of alot more fun doing it than staring at a mounted fish

I am happy to hear that the mount was refurbished. I hadn't seen it in a few years, it needed a rehab.
Unfortunately, 20K is too much.
I hope it makes it to the IGFA. Sure somebody would drive it if need be.

Maybe he should donate it to the Museum, and try to claim the $20K on his taxes? That should raise an audit issue.

I seem to remember in the recent Salt Water Angler interview with Al McReynolds he said the fish disappeared around the time he caught it.

Not that I like them, but the Bass Pro shop opening in Foxboro would be very wise to buy it. 20,000 would seem a small price considering the publicity and increased store traffic it would get them.

Exactly! It'll get more exposure there than anywhere else that I can see..

I'd rather have 30 Van Staals.

There has been so many stories, rumors & lies about the entire saga of this fish over the years.. I guess this is just another chapter here in regards to this mount..
I've seen I believe a replica of it over at the old Campbell Marine heading into Margate and it was quite a site....

Worth 20k,, I think not.......

Is that collectible, not. I wouldn't want a mounted fish in my house that I didn't catch.

Wasn't Mc Reynolds on here a year or two ago, telling his version of how everything went down?

yes
If I recall the story correctly, he caught quite a few large fish that week (60+ lbs) also,
so did his son and daughter

Never bought the story and never will buy the mount. 20K is ridiculous. Good luck with that price tag.
