rain gear

i have a grundens rain coat on my x-mass list, anyone have thoughts on rain gear. i heard that the rubber coats make you sweat alot, i'm not sure what is out there for products. i would like a coat to keep the wind and rain from chilling me to the bone but also breathable. is there a product that can do this??
what do you guys wear?? and what would you get if you needed rain gear.

Tough to beat the Grundrens for rain/wind protection. Anything breathable will eventually become "wetable".

anything Gortex (expensive) or Cabelas carries outter wear in a material called DRY PLUS. I have their waders, upland hunting coat and a rain jacket made from this material. I have have fished and hunted in this gear when it was absolutely pouring for hours and I stayed dry.

Depends on what I need raingear for. I like waders and my old Camo GoreTex Jacket for surf fishing. If I needed good heavy duty rain gear to work in I would probably chose Grundens, but to surf fish I'll stick with the Gore Tex.

I have the Grudens pull-over rain top with the neo cuffs (these are sweet). This is ideal for heavy weather fall surf fishing. (the surfcaster has pic) But you don't want to use on warm summer days....so you really need both something light and breathable for the summer and the Grudens when it gets ugly.

You know what I use in the summer and thru most of the fall...and it is really excellent is this jacket I bought in west marine a few years ago called a "dinghy jacket" or spray jacket. It is made by GILL, is a light waterproof pullover with neo cuffs and neck and waist with velcro. This is one of my favorite surf fishing jackets over my waders and can go all the way till Nov in.
Check it out.

but when it gets really nasty...go for the grunden pullover, that can take anything mother nature can dish out. I have had trouble finding the grunden's pull over...most commerical guys don't like them I eventually ordered mine thru the surfcaster.

Thanks Sandman
I found the grundens pullover for 72.50 on the web. it's seems odd the orange pullover is cheaper then the green one. i guess more people prefer green so they raise the price by 10.00
