looked it up

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molidae

I snagged someting yesterday that took 15 feet of drag on my 560 slammer and then snapped my line. I was using a 6 oz jig with a 9 inch rubber shad body.

thats why they call it fishing not catching

it's an ocean sunfish, easy to snag, shaped like the hood of my truck.
Saw 3 a week or so ago milling around east end.

I had one of them swimming in front of me a month or so back at the Canal and I had no idea what it was...I even cast at it a half dozen times just for the hell of it Now I'm glad I didn't snag it...I can't tie a knot to save my life so it would have benn quick

thanks for the info.
