Herring Runs

Been out of the loop for a couple years with herring runs and what have you. My question is: Can you still get and fish with live herring from the Herring runs around MA, particularly Cape Cod herring runs. I tend to remember hearing that you could no longer bring 5 gallon buckets to the runs when allowed to get live herring for bait?

Any thoughts appreciated.

I should have just googled.......Herring Run Information for the Buzzards Bay watershed in Massachusetts from the Buzzards Bay National Estuary Program interesting graphs looks like the herring were really getting whipped out. I heard from some people over the weekend all the fish they got in the canal were loaded with with herring in them 8in or so.

They are working on it though. Got a couple grants coming my way to restore a couple fish ladders this year and next. Hopefully if we build it, they will come, then the restrictions can be lifted someday.
