Shore fishing - hilton head area?

I'll be down south later this month, staying close to the water in Hilton Head SC, shelter harbor area. I've been doing some research and looks like reds, shark, jacks will be in the shallow creeks and marsh areas. I have no idea if I can wade out there and access the shore, I may rent a yak, not sure. Just curious if anyone has ever fished this area?

Expect it to be really busy down there. Much of the summer Gulf scene has moved east.
