Anyone fishing the backside??

I was up there last week and the mung was pretty bad on Tuesday. Heard it was clean as of Friday. I just don't want to drive all the way up there for a lot of frustration. Head of the meadow? Balston? Leconts Hollow?Marconi? Do you need a sticker to park all night at the NS beaches? Any Nauset news?? The backside is not what it used to be but it has it's moments and any mung info would be greatly appreciated. Of course I can always go to the canal for the slack at dawn but it will be a circus down there.

Pretty sure you still need an overnight parking pass (free) to park at new beach, guard house, and hotm. The others are town owned and they never bothered anyone fishing after dark to my knowledge.

Mung info? It changes every day so any reports would be worthless as far as I'm concerned. I don't fish the place any more but can tell you its always a crap shoot and you may have to visit several beaches to find one clean enough to fish. Sometimes a beach may be mucked up at low tide but will become fishable as the tide rises and disperses the mung. Easterly winds can push it all the way up to the second rip sometimes and w/n/w will clean everything out in a couple tides. Bring eels too as often times you can't keep a plug clean but an eel will work very well.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole

You can usually fish a big sluggo direct tied, weedless style across the top in moderate mung. Rod tip high, keep as much of your line out of the water.
It aint what it used to be though, good luck.

May fortune favor the foolish....

HOTM was clean as a whistle last evening! White Crest was clean out to 100 yards this afternoon but I could see the weed line and am positive as the tide dropped it was gonna get dirty! Newcomb and LeCounts were dirty pretty bad Sunday night but as mentioned it could change with the wind or tide change!

I strongly recommend fishing the ditch! I ain't there!!
