South of the Cape

I'm spending a few days on the Cape in early August. I'm bringing my boat hoping to get into some YFT or something Exotic not found on the NWC or Jeffries.
When I was younger (much) we would go out of Cotuit and I remember killing the footballs. It was 1980 and I was 20 .
.... I think we were using spinning gear casting topwater plugs.
But then again....in 1980 ......who knows...
Will my striper gear work or bring the 30w's and 50w's.
Lately I just sit there hoping an 80w goes off.....so my skill set is lacking.
I will be coming out of the Bass River Ramp.
It looks like there is a lot of nice stuff close by...but hoping for a little help....
thanks
burnsey

How about a Cobia? There have been 5 caught that I know about so far...

Bonito are around. Also do not be surprise if you catch a king mack or spanish mack this summer .

Oh...how about a White Marlin! There are a bunch of these pretty damn close right now and it only looks to get better as the summer progresses. I am trying to get on on a fly rod this summer. What an awesome sight in the water and lit up.

At one time YFT did come within 5 miles or so but not in many years. Is this the year? It is possible with this water temp.

When I was the dock manager at Snug Harbor marina in Galillee in the 90s I used to see football yelllowfin daily off the Prowler.

I've never even heard of a yellowfin off the cape.

I might be south of Noman's in the next couple of days. I'll post what I do/don't find.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

There were times in past years when YFT were 5 mi so of nomans. It has not happened in a number of years but they have been caught there.

I have my fingers crossed for this year

Nothing really to report, we did reach Noman's but no further south. Spent the day loading up on black sea bass, fluke, and scup! ODM said he had his PB fluke and BSB today!

woke up and the wind was blowing 20 with light rain. Went down to the boat, a buddy came back from Chatham and could not get out in his CC...6'ers in the early morning . Called it off. Always another day.
