Beach closures due to increased shark sightings...
East facing Cape Cod beaches are being closed due to an increased number of shark sightings.
Boy, anyone that didn't see this coming, would you please stand on your head!!!
I wonder how soon they will be closing them next year, since the sharks and seals have more importance than the people?
Don't say that this was a shock, as it was only a matter of time!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Maybe we can train the plovers to fend off the sharks...

Is it too much to ask to get a couple of plovers with laser beams for crying out loud

New sport C&R 1000lb Great White fishing from shore.
How far can you cast a cute baby seal lure with a 18ft surf rod?
Boat caught Sharks don't count.

Some say that there's a fine line between a Surfcaster and some idiot just standing on the beach.

how long before they start banning going into the water completely?
I understand the safety aspect, and that it's the "end of summer", but you can't tell me with a straight face that next year there won't be some upstart politico yahoo (wanting to make a name for themself) who will impose the beach closures starting in May "just to be safe"!
Remember how the plight of the plover started out???

They are getting exactly what they want. The plovers keep people off the seashore beaches in the beginning of the summer and then they can leverage the sharks to keep people off of them the rest of the summer.

So just Nauset to Monomoy?
There's been shark activity elsewhere (both north and south) yet they aren't closing those.
Isn't that area managed by the town of Chatham anyhow?
They closed Nauset back in July didn't they?

Nauset south to Monomoy isn't part of the Seashore. And the plovers keep vehicles off the beaches, not people.
Nauset is a money maker for the towns of Orleans and Chatham. They don't want to close them down on a whim.
