panic attack
last night I woke up from a dream, thinking someone or something was near my bed, I turned on the light looked around and realized I must have been dreaming. then went to the bathroom and everything got f-ed up from there. I suddenly felt like I was loosing it, couldnt focus, walked in circles, cold sweat, it happened very fast. I had to wake my wife up, i needed help. I couldnt even turn the light switch on. I've never felt like this before, I cant even compare it to anything, i thought i was dying. There was no chest pain or heart racing. My wife gave me ice water and I sat down. I sat in the chair for an hour or so gradually getting back to normal. I eventually went back to sleep. Most f-ed up thing ever. I've been looking at syptoms on the web and seems like a panic attack. Im not 100% today, feel pretty off. Anyone ever have anything like this?

Could be a panic or anxiety attack, but it must have been some drean/nightmare to induce that from a deep sleep!
Do you remember what you were dreaming just before you woke up?
Sometimes it can be a basic fear you didn't know you had, and your dream may have "wandered" into that territory.
I'd say be safe and get it checked out just to be sure that there something you weren't aware of.
Good luck!

Worst feeling in the world. I used to get them bad. Ended up in the er a few times thinking I was dying heart racing at 150. Never took any meds just mind control. Calmed myself down knowing I wasn't gonna die. I haven't had them in many years.

Panic/anxiety sucks and it can do amazingly odd things to you.
On a similar notes years ago not long after moving into our house we had one of those mirrors on the back of the bedroom door. We turned the A/c on just in the bedroom for sleeping so door was closed and we just started doing this. I woke up...caught a reflection of some sort in the mirror, forgot the door was closed so I thought in the dark I was looking into the hallway. I panicked BAD and sat straight up in bed, thus slightly catching my own reflection in the mirror (that is now staring back at me from the hallway) and let out a blood curdling scream. I was so friggin scared. Hubby woke from the scream and saw a figure over the bed and kicked the intruder (which was really me) in the head with all his might. I quickly screamed that it was me and he stopped. We both felt like jackasses after ward but yeah to make a long story short...if you wake up and you think something terrifying is appening it can feel very real!

I wish! Not likely to happen here! You can get one in San Fran in 10 mins.
Thanks for all the comments. I hope its a one time deal. I think my Dad had these ocassionally. My dream was pretty screwed up and seemed very real. I just couldnt get grounded in reality and felt like I needed to walk or keep moving. Really out of my mind Work has been brutal lately and I've been really stressed. If I get it again, I'll see a doc.

music helps as it is very soothing and calming
you can get into an overload situation where signals from the brain
come way to fast or all at once... which is quite similar to an epileptic seizure
in comparison.
i don't know what you watch on TV
but sometimes trying to make sense of those situations
scenario's and visual stimuli .....in other words Processing it
during the dream time or within the dream state it can become as real
as real life feels....
so , keeping that in mind.... try to program yourself with something
calming, peaceful , happy happy prior to getting some shut eye so
that your more in a blissful STATE of mind..... later on...

just out of curiosity? Did you happen to eat anything that's preserved with
mono-sodium-glutamate ? commonly know as a food preservative as M.S.G
because that with give you extremely realistic dreams that shakes your view of reality to it's foundations.
pizza shops use them canned mushrooms and some Chinese food places too

no, I've been eating home cooked stuff. I did have a long run that night, probabaly didnt drink that much water and polished off a martini before bed. I think that contributed to the feeling.

I've had dreams where i have literally sat up screaming my head off
so frightened i didn't sleep for two days afterwards.... just in case.
what i dislike is having an unpleasant dream waking up then falling back to sleep
and it continues on right where you just left it.... GRRRRR hate that

well the alcohol is super strong in a martini
usually....3 kinds of booze
that break down into sugar fairly rapidly
sleepy time tea... a better choice....
so i just had one.... a panic attack type of dream
where i didn't know who or where i was
found myself naked in a city (i loath cities you see)
all i had was a wallet i found and a set of keys....
i managed to find some old overalls somewhere
and was trying to find my way home but wasn't sure where it was
i had some cash (in the wallet) but was barefoot
and had some recollections but just couldn't sort things out
so glad the birds started singing at 4:30 am
good to be home again...
the dream lasted maybe seconds
but it felt like days have gone by.....

Could have also been a night terror. I've had both panic attacks and terrors and 9 out 10 times it has always been due to stress, either long term or just a day with extraordinary circumstances.
Pretty much is a sign of the body saying it can't take much more of whatever it's been exposed to.
Some lifestyle changes usually give the fix like knowing the trigger, calming yourself before you go to sleep, sleep habits (including what you see on TV before you sleep), overall calming yourself, looking over current medications and/or supplements you are taking, and your diet (I'm not just talking about caffeine or alcohol, the whole thing).
Trust me, even when we think we are calm and we have an issue, our body isn't.
If it's that much of a concern, see a doctor but the rest is up to you. The number 1 thing is to not worry about it coming back because that can trigger another event.

Have you ever tried to remember something but couldn't
because mainly you gave up too
quickly saying to yourself
muttering "i can't remember" which gives you a voice command
not to.... then in the middle of the night you wake up from a sound sleep
with the ANSWER but sadly no one's there to say it to...
just goes to show ya that the subconscious mind never sleeps
and is on the job 24/7 looking for answers regardless
