Renewing your LTC's and Pistol Permits
For the Mass Folks,
Here's a little public service announcement that I'm sure most of you are aware of already but here goes:
I issue the LTC's and Pistol Permits for my agency. They are taking FOREVER! I've fielded numerous complaints about the permits taking so long and people losing their existing permits. I hear the frustration but the problem lies with the state...namely the fingerprint section. The agency is being inundated with prints since recent events. I'm seeing these prints taking 12+ weeks. Not good for someone expiring within a week of their renewal.
If your respective departments allow you to renew 3 months prior to your expiration (which we do) DO IT! I'm still waiting on a new pepper spray only permit from February 2, 2013
You are valid after expiration date of license to carry for 90 days. You are valid to purchase for 30 days after expiration. You MUST, however, have begun the process.
Renew early!! It's taking FOREVER!
Just trying to help people out
Be safe!

Thanks for the reminder, mine is up in August and I haven't done anything yet. Sounds like I'll be lucky to have it back by duck season!

I am due in Feb 2014 and for the first time in over 20 years I got a reminder to renew. Not only that but the card said there is a huge number of people filing for an LTC so please renew at least 3 months in advance tp aviod an issue. I was impressed to get this, seeing as though they don't send a reminder for my drivers license or vehicle registration.
