I use VMC's like a lot of guys. The 3X work for me just fine. They are not too expensive and get the job done. Occasionally they bend but stand up better than mustads. You can buy them in 25 packs get a bunch of split rings and a decent pair of split ring pliers and do it on a winter day when you have the fishing bug.

Everything is better on the rocks.

Second VMC's. I use 4X on most of my plugs.

I'd stickwith the VMC 4X. You can go with the 6X but the benefit isn't worth the price. Some complain about hooks bending but when you use 65lb an 80 lb braid with the drag so tight ,well most hooks will bend. Your fishing for stripers use the 4X VMC if your going for lg Tuna well try the the 6X.I've had tuna to 127 lb an Rooster fish over 60lb landed on my plugs with the 4X VMC and not bend them. As far as that discoloration on them after a few fish, well check the point. They do stay sharp.I have VMC s that are the same hook labeled 3x an 4x. I called and asked an was told they.re the same hook.

get a pack of 2/0's and 3/0's too. Those are the two sizes I use the most

something clever and related to fishing

Owner or VMC. I use 6X and 4 X and find that I have had the 4X bend.

No boat, back in the suds.

As others have said, vmcs in 4x or 6x. Owners are very nice but very pricey.

Has anyone tried the mustad 9430-DS 3/0 trebles?

I was in a shop looking for vmc 6x , but when they were out i found these. They are are listed as being 5x and feel very solid. Shank is slightly longer but not much.

Any feedback in them???

Thanks for the info. Is there any particular VMC model treble hook or is it only one option?

If you have a file/hook sharpener, you will be able to save/salvage a good percent of those that are not bent. That will save you $.
Ivan, I just went down to the shop to see what the number was on the box of bronze Mustads I used to use for livelining, but I realized that I had just dumped all my crap in a pile when I emptied the boat and the Tahoe. Not exactly finished with "putting the gear away" I guess... I say used to use because I was getting too many deep or gut hooks. Went to circles and would miss fish. Just use J hooks when livelining now. And given this past year, that would be referring to 2013......

4x VMC bends like nothing, go 6x if you can get away with it not affecting the action.
