Misfits S-B Team

For those not following the gotight.net tournament there's a few S-B teams in week 2 of the playoffs. Slip and I are trying like hell to make it to the final next week. We're currently in 2nd this week. Top 6 or 7 teams out of 16 make it. Hopefully we will have a strong showing for Team Misfits representing S-B! You can check out the tournaments facebook page.

Good luck Andy and Bruce. Hopefully you guys don't get hosed by the cheaters that are allowed to add inches to their fish with their sketchy measurements. I've never seen such blatant cheating allowed in any competition. It makes it tougher for the honest guys like you two.

I also want to add I think Dave is doing a great job with this tournament and I'm sure it's a full plate for him. This things has been very organized for its first year, and it's been a great excuse to give my wife to get me out of the house.

Good luck Andy and Bruce

ChrisJoe is out doing some fishing tonight/tomorrow and after I leave work after a 15 hour day I'm hitting the surf.

Don't think we stand a chance but worth a shot .

Good luck to everyone and be safe

I don't know many that are driven harder to fish than Andy, he is an animal and has been all week. He has not taken a night off and I am not sure if he will even tomorrow night. Thanks partner. I put time in when I am able to and have been fortunate enough to have some success this week. Hopefully we make the cut to fish in the finals.
Higgie, I feel for ya, that does suck but congrats on the personal best

fishbones, I have not seen any cheating so I am not sure what you speak of. I do know that Dave runs this tournament impartially and very fair. I give him lots of credit for his efforts. Adding inches is not allowed. I think it is very hard to get a live fish to cooperate with all the requirements and at some point you feel obligated to get them back in the water so sometimes things are rushed.
It's not a kill tournament.

thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you also Chris and Higgie

Bruce, I'm not blaming Dave at all. I don't know how he does it. It's a huge undertaking. I've been following the tournament because I was thinking of participating next year. I couldn't this year because I have a comm lic. I've seen several videos from one team where the fish aren't measured accurately. It definitely looks intentional and not a mistake from being rushed. Fish being measured over the body, tapes with big bends in them and tapes not starting at zero. If the rest of you guys can get accurate measurements, there's no reason these guys can't. And it's asking a lot of Dave to make decisions on every questionable fish. Anyways, hopefully you and Andy, along with Rich and Greg are able to move on to the next round.

I didn't think you were blaming Dave. when I was new at this with the entries, i made lots of mistakes also, tapes over fish, very crooked tapes in the pics but I thought there was a certain amount of honesty and integrity expected and that I would be believed if i entered a 30" fish and the numbers weren't perfect on the tape in the pic lined up with tail and head. Eventually I caught on to how it's done but at first I am positive Dave was willing or able to cut some slack seeing that the tape was scrunched up and maybe the tape reads 36" and i said it was 34", whatever the case may have been.
I Think it's very presumptuous of you to call out certain entries as being blatant cheating or purposely trying to gain an inch or 2. Screwing up all the requirements can be easy to do when you are sleep deprived and not thinking clearly. One other thing about tapes with bends in them, I should do a test set of photos showing actually how little it adds to the measurement when the tape is bent or placed over a fish, believe me it is miniscule.

We had entries questioned and points deducted and it cost us a weekly win, but we go with the flow and do the best we can. You have to accept how things are and how things are ruled.

maybe it can be done with camera angles or something, I don't know.
I do know poor camera angles make lots of our fish appear shorter.

Next year videos won't be allowed I think.

I'm gonna use one of those folding tape measures if I do this again.

Maybe I should have not said anything so as not to take anything away from Andy's thread.

anyway, it's a lot of fun, you should join next year.

thanks Bob, we are not familiar with that punk rock, we are just a couple of misfits
