Hey Larry - First off, nice job on Chronicle; I really enjoyed it - despite them editing out SOL!
That said, are you in hiding from the crowds that are seeking an autograph now that you are a TV personality? I hope your absence from this thread means that business is through the roof and you don't have time to post! But I can't believe that anything would keep you from fishing.

Hey Paul - I need a photo of the pup. Perhaps you could get George to help you make him or her into a fishing dog? But keep the pup away from the plugs, please! I have seen enough photos of dogs with trebles attached to their mouths and I still get nightmares from a photo that Mike Thomas had in the shop of a boxer - so much in those eyes!

Hey Guys - What gives? Have the fish stopped taking wood? Is it the dreaded eel season when bass only want to eat snakes - or a facsimile such as a skin draped over a metal lip?
I'm tired of hearing about vertical jigging and livelining scup; I need to hear about wood ruling the day. We've had some fun lately with Gibbs' pencils in the rips, but nothing that's worth taking a photo of yet.
Oh, yeah, and Paul, where is that photo of the pup you promised?
Seriously, hope everyone is doing well and watch out for those jetties - they come up pretty fast - just as the Steamship Authority! Ouch!

George and I got some fish on needles and darters. No pics though and nothing really worthy of a shot for me. So some are catching on wood. Next week hopefully I will do better.

Wow, this makes me sad! Perhaps Sauerkraut is right: the best way to catch big bass is with an eel - or put an eelskin over a plug. I wish I could contribute, but the only plugs I use in my business are manufactured by folks such as Gibbs. And any custom plugs I have I keep for myself - and I don't fish anymore!
Please help me with some plug love.

recent catch that was puking up herring (I sense a theme here)
got it on one of Chucks' heavy spooks, at least it is wood and not plastic.

I can't bring myself to fish eels from shore only from a boat sometimes when I get invited by some generous friends. I do however enjoy catching on plastic almost as much as wood, have to give them what they want sometimes.

Nice fish Bruce.

I have a few pics from my camera that I needed to resize. Its been a pretty slow first half of the year for me. I found a few nice fish in early june when I took off a week to fish but had no numbers just a few large fish in an otherwise very slow week.. (like 2-3 hits/night and that SW wind we seemed to have every night made it really tough to hook anything).

The only problem with that is you will:
1 have to resize as most pics from the phone are several megs and John's site has a I meg limit and :
2. You may have to store as a JPEG as most phone (at least my 'droid) store pics in a PNG format.

No boat, back in the suds.

Posting a few updates that were caught on JLH's plugs. Sorry for the sucky pics, since Jay has been in the hospital with his son I've been mostly fishing solo.

This fish on a needle was nothing special, maybe 20 pounds, but on the subsequent cast I hooked something I couldn't stop and was eventually broken off when it took me deep into a boulderfield. It could have just as easily been a 30-pound class fish that was snagged as it was a cow, so I'm not losing much sleep over the fish. I was more pissed at lowing the needle than the fish as it was one of two special giants that Jay made for me based off the old Red Fin perch pattern.

And here are a pair of fish landed on a JLH maple Donny that has ben very productive for me this year. The one with hook in the back of the fish's head was 33# but felt like a tank due to the hook placement. I was getting a bunch of weird hits and dropped fish before landing this one that night. The bass were either having a hard time zeroing in on the plug or they were just looking to kill it. The other one hooked properly in the mouth was mid-20s.

Yeah I know they'll say ditch fish don't count, but if you know how and where to fish metal lips in the ditch they slay.

Thanks Bruce!
