This is serious.

I first heard about this a few years ago from a very good friend of mine who is a retired navy pilot.. when Iran captured a few of our navy's fast boats.
News of this gps hack is just now coming to light publicly and I have to imagine this is what happened to our frigate that was rammed.

The is some word / evidence of a GPS hack in general, but also know a few Ret Navy Captains and this was likely not the Gulf issue nor the Fitz

Follow up, yes it seems like it is possible (and probable) for the Black Sea incident, but still not realistic on the Fitz.

I will add more. A few years ago, Russian jets were buzzing navy ships. All of the electronics on the ship malfunctioned. Russian jets buzzing American jets.... same thing. They have some sort of gps jamming/spoofing weapon and they are using it against us.

So to tease out your logic, someone was steering the ACX Crystal (in a straight line) to a GPS Spoofed spot on a map, where the Russkies assumed a US DDG would be at 3am. With your ample knowledge of the sea do you think this is possible?



And in the unlikely event us US Navy DDG was using GPS, it is an encrypted signal that cannot reasonably remotely be decrypted, insert malicious code, and re-encrypt .

Not to mention the primary Nav aids would be radar, eyeballs, etc, not AIS

AIS track for ALNIC/MC bwlow:

Just spitballing but maybe DDG had crossed TEAM OSLO and the ALNIC/MC was in its radar shadow. If you look at the long track Team OSLO spent a while overtaking ALNIC and crossed from behind and port to passing to starboard.

McCain goes to pass across bow of OSLO, next sees Hyundai Global and hits the brakes, and then finds ALNIC just between OSLO and ALNIC. Similar to the incident with USS Porter a few years ago, one vessel masks another in a very crowded traffic convergence.
