no thoughts on Jeff sessions

'If Jeff Sessions is fired, there will be holy hell to pay.' — Lindsey Graham in 2017....

Before the semantics start.. being asked to resign and being fired ... are the same thing

Trump tweeted that Sessions was being replaced – which came about 12 hours after the Democrats won control of the House of Representatives in midterm elections Amazing

and look who gets the job.. this guy.. Whitaker Funny how that works it must be purely by chance ..... Sure it is

Whitaker described an internal strategy for foiling Mueller on CNN in 2017. “I could see a scenario where Jeff Sessions is replaced,” he said, “it would [be a] recess appointment and that attorney general doesn’t fire Bob Mueller but he just reduces his budget to so low that his investigation grinds to almost a halt.”

I thought Sessions did a good job of trying to be accurate to the law, and even providing cover for the folks doping the Trump investigation. Frankly surprised he lasted as long as he did.

Gee, sure wish 18 months into this investigation we would know. So far there is little smoke and no fire. Just allegations which have not been substantiated.

Gowdy had a great take on Sessions being a "dead man walking" for months. Interesting how a resignation can transform someone in the Trump administration into a hero to the left. It made sense that he'd be asked to leave after the repubs were sure they still had numbers after the election to confirm a new nominee. If the Repubs lost the senate the dems would have never approved another Trump appointee.

Lindsey Graham “If Jeff Sessions is fired, there will be holy hell to pay.”

Where did that guy go?????

Lindsey Graham “I look forward to working with President @realDonaldTrump to find a confirmable, worthy successor so that we can start a new chapter at the Department of Justice and deal with both the opportunities and challenges our nation faces,”

Well I guess you can say he wasn't fired because he tendered his resignation - he took the smart way out.

Dennis, it starts out
Dear Mr President, At your request, I am submitting my resignation.

Now one could say that Jeff Sessions is the only Confederate Monument that Trump was willing to tear down.

Would you prefer that he got all irrational and started losing his $hit on twitter?

The guy posts a rational, professional and adult comment on the situation and THAT'S an issue?

and people wonder why the political climate is so banged up.

Actually I think Sessions insulated Trump from being able to do more stupid stuff, like directly interfere in an investigation.
Just think, if Trump had not fired Comey, the Russian investigation would likely be over by now, no special prosecutor would have been appointed, therefore the investigation would have had no opportunity to expand.
Trump did it to himself, almost by himself and his only adviser who agreed was his son in law.

He was repeatedly burned by the left. The Kavanaugh bits stopped him from trying to be a mediator and bridge to a screw it all in type.

Funny how the left hated him and called him a racist, noit his firing is (another) Constitutional Crisis

Why is it any time someone the left or democrats uses comments from the right or republicans that are critical of Trump.. they are somehow seen all of a sudden as .."a hero to the left."

Rather than the real reasons .... questioning if the statement has back bone or just lip service ...

So the real questions who here won't have an issue if Trump and his plant in the DOJ kill the investigation outright or via a slow death ... and not see that action as obstruction of justice

So he’s pissed? What does that have to do with the truth?

Joke, John and I thought it was pretty funny
Sessions does have the racial attitude of his vintage, generations are changing that.

And what would the outcome have been? How has Trump / Sessions interfered with the investigation?
It might have already been over, we’ll never know
Sessions hasn’t and has acted as a buffer between Trump and the investigation
He has been pretty staunch about being independent and not being beholden to Trump
That’s what he’s pissed about (Trump)

I feel sorry for Sessions. But, hey, some of you guys point out that Trump appointees are always in danger of being booted. Another one bites the dust.

Trumps new AG all ready showing his fidelity

General Matthew Whitaker and Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen announced the changes on Thursday.

The joint statement said presidents have the power to "suspend the entry of all aliens" and to impose "any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate on them" if they are judged to be "detrimental" to US interests under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
