baseball bats for plugs

Hopefully I didn't repost, but I am in Yarmouth now and have 6 or 7 hardwood baseball bats that were my dad's. Don't know if they'd make plugs for some one with a lathe. Or they go to the dump...I love the Yarmouth dump, haven't seen Guppy there yet but I'm sure I will sooner or later, I go every day.

That dump is great, I have been there before

Those bats might be more valuable as bats than plugs, aren't bats made from maple now?

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

Maple bats make great needles and darters. Ash not the best.
Look at grain. Smooth surface , maple. Bumpy feel its ash.

U can use but not a favorite. I custom turn baseball bats. I also have plenty of broken bats. I did some ornamental ash plugs. After turned and sanded, I torch the grain lengthwise to get that flame temper effect. Then I epoxy w/ ETex.

I was there. You probably missed me because I was in the old oil and antifreeze return shed for a while. Seems stoic old washashores changed their own oil then hid it in the yard in old laundry detergent containers for later generations to find.

Made numerous plugs from Japanese maple, the best, Mizuno, American ash and maple bats too. Also local ,milled ash, which has a heavy grain, but the plugs work fine.
