The war on drugs started when I was in high school and that was a long time ago, it’s cost a trillion dollars and we spend 3+billion a year to keep people in prison for drug offenses.
Do you see that we’re winning, I don’t
Contrary to popular belief spending on police goes up every year and the results don’t improve.
It’s estimated that there’s 400 million guns owned by Americans and guns have been selling at a rate of over a million a month
Citizens United was 12 years ago today. It is the Patient Zero for most of our modern problems.
Twelve years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.
Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.
Billionaire wealth - all time high, up 70% since the pandemic
Corporate profits - all time high
Global inequality - highest in over 100 years
Fifty percent of the U.S. workforce earned less than $35,000 in 2019, according to the Social Security Administration.
Keep the big picture in mind whenever people say that giving workers a raise causes problems.
The increase in violent crime is largely in the items above and no it doesn’t have a simple answer

Crime started to go down in New York in 1990. Giuliani was elected mayor and started the broken window policy in 1994. Crime continued to go down until recently even though New York stopped the Broken Window policy years ago.

ask teachers, if you want order in the classroom, is it better to be strict, or better to be soft? it’s really that simple.

hey pete...have you noticed that the more these big corporations and billionaires subscribe to the leftist agenda the bigger and more monopolistic they get? the more they donate to democrats and push leftist policies....I guess at some point they will become altruistic and begin dispersing all of their accumulated billions and trillions to the world to solve the global inequality problem

pete complains about the influence of billionaire wealth, but recently, he bragged that a huge majority of uber wealthy are democrats.
which is it, pete? is it a good thing that the uber wealthy lean left, or bad?
talk about wanting to have it both ways.
as to the rich getting richer…what do you expect with a massive stock run up than spans 12 years? how would you prevent the wealthy from benefiting from that? would you pass a law, that says “once your net worth exceeds this threshold, you must keep all your money in an account that pays 0% interest”?

Pete ( one day): the wealthy are largely democrat voters. that means the democrat party is right.
Pete ( another day): the wealthy are evil and corrupt and their increased wealth is ruining life. that means the democrat party is right.
no matter what happens, you’ll conclude the democrat party is right. Whether blue states thrive or fail, it means liberalism is better. Whether red states thrive or fail, it means liberalism is better. Whether liberal policies are shown to succeed or fail, liberalism
is better. Whether conservative policies thrive or fail, it means liberalism is better.
the state of CT applied some of the highest state taxes in the country, to some of the highest incomes in the country. That means we gave the state a ton of money. The liberals spent all that. Then the liberals took jillions of dollars from the casinos, and they spent all that. Then the liberals borrowed tens of thousands of dollars from every human being in the state, and they spent all that. What they created with all that spending, is a landscape so difficult to afford, that middle
class people are leaving.
the conclusion of all of you? red states did it. the people
running CT didn’t do anything stupid, short sighted, corrupt, or reckless. Nope. Poor red states did it all.
The solution? Elect more liberals to raise taxes and spend more.
Brilliant.
You are, literally, impervious to results.
I was a registered democrat. Then, i saw that pure liberalism doesn’t work. So i changed my mind.

As I posted
There’s a lot of things driving the increase in crime and no it’s not just one.
As usual you push it to your normal narrative

Regressive good

I’ve said here a thousand times, that i think liberals are 100% correct on some big issues.
Again, why don’t you show us all that i’m the thoughtless zealot, and you are the one capable of critical
thinking, that you’re the one who can think for himself…
Tell us the big issues on which you think liberals are wrong, and conservatives are right. Go ahead.

First because that’s not what I said
I stated and the statistics back it up, that areas that voted democratic are better educated and produce most of the gdp.
I know that bothers your view of Donald Trump as the Almighty and Ron DeSantis as the prosperity-gospel pastor of Floriduh

Jim: Trump is a morally bankrupt reptile.
Pete: Jim thinks Trump is the Almighty.
you can’t respond to what anyone actually says, Pete. Do you pretend we’re saying something we never came close to saying.
It’s boring and cowardly. And a constant liberal tactic.
The uber wealthy in this country, today, heavily vote democrat. I’m fine with that. You’re fine with it when it suits you, you deny it when it doesn’t suit yiu.

Political affiliation of those R states matches up pretty good with the less educated and lower earnings/lesser GDP per capita.

You have repeatedly said that Trump was the only one that could do a number of things and complained that I refuse to shower him with praise and that he’s really not so bad, you’d work for him.
Nothing better than an authoritarian leader for you, and morals don’t matter.
Hypocrite much?
Just who are these “Uber” wealthy?
I’ve taken an Uber, does that make me one?

From National Bureau of Economic research:
"During the 1990s, crime rates in New York City dropped dramatically, even more than in the United States as a whole. Violent crime declined by more than 56 percent in the City, compared to about 28 percent in the nation as whole. Property crimes tumbled by about 65 percent, but fell only 26 percent nationally."
Giuliani was mayor most of those years.

I can see why you’re no longer teaching.
That’s the same mindset that says the National Guard qualified to teach.
Never had a teacher or coach who was strict or soft that was good at it.
And
Congratulations to Jimmy Garoppolo on replacing Dr Fauci as Aaron Rodgers’ least favorite Italian

Never said he didn't have any impact. The decr. was as a result of numerous things done in numerous places and took place all across the US.
Was the Fox article a follow up to one they did the year before discussing how the murder rate was the highest it has been in 20 years and increased 30% (which may have been one of the largest increases in our history)?
As an actuary would you only look at the smaller 2021 increase while ignoring the huge 30% increase in 2020?

I know, look at what happened on 1/6 and they way cops where treated.
So it appears Fox didn't do an article last year when we had one of the largest increases in recent history (at least 30 years).

the whole
right is blaming the capital
police? that’s what you’re saying?
one bad cop, with a demonstrated history of being stupid with his gun, shot a tiny woman to death with no warning, and i don’t see an argument that she posed an immediate lethal threat to anyone. the cop who killed her, testified he couldn’t see her hands.
