..here and there....

....there and here......

....sometimes, you can get lucky....and know someone at a tire place...and they sometimes are willing to part with the tire-lead weights.....like a 5 gallon bucket full!!!!.....

..and then sometimes you know someone who works at a Lumber yard of sorts, that deal with flashing...for roofs, and they fork over the scraps....or even a FULL roll or two....

....and then theres the 78 year old plumber, who gives you the stinkiest melting lead around....

...and then theres......, well, you get the picture....although it is getting more and more scarce.....

I know a while back, there was someone willing to give away some lead....

...at a high cost though...

.....I think he said, for every 5 jigs you molded, he wanted 2!!....

....those odds are too high for me....not that its a lot of work......but!!.....If I can find lead myself....(which I usually do eventually).....that equals...5 jigs molded......5 jigs kept!!!...

...I'm sure if I was in Dire Straits....maybe, just maybe.....I'd agree to 1 out of every five.....

Both pictures are looking with a Striper's Eye.......

....the first picture, he's chasing down a squid......and he's gaining on him....!!!.......

The second picture, is the squid....doing its "Skunk" maneuver....and squirting em'......

....Striper1....I'm not sure if you read it yet.....but the new regulations on Codfish made the local paper.

...They upped it to 24 inches......and dropped the bag limit to 5 !!...

...I'm hoping we get some pollock mixed in !!!....

....I got a friend who works in a machine shop, he says he can cut me hollow stainless pipes......all I gotta do is bend the ends in ..so the lead don't drop. It would be nice if he could chrome those suckas for me....

..I'm gonna experiment with the first one....I started on it the other night......but my tank ran out.....

Bloo not this weekend. The best way to do the pipe jigs is to fill them then cut them. Don't worry about the chrome its meant to catch the fisherman not the cod. Think about it how much light is down 200'! In Maine they us plain lead vike-style jigs NO CHROME!

Bloo here is how I see it
say I get 5 cod over 24 inch each fish should be about 4 pounds good meat? 5 fish is 20 pounds that sounds high so say 15 pounds good take home cod meat at 7 bucks a pound that's 105 bucks of cod for 50 bucks and if you like it the fun of getting it yourself.

now closed zones
where ? when ?
I think that will hurt the small guy out there.

Striper 1 & Bloo
you can get lead at scrap yards from .25-.35 per Lb.
I offer local plumbers the going rate for lead. they just drop it off .
I go thru 5,000-6,000 lbs per year
