If your going to use it for herring or eels....I'd get a dip net and use it standing up. They both like to swim in circles. Also recommend putting a Schedule 80 bulkhead fitting as close to the vertical bottom of the drum as possible and fitting it with same size ballvalve and plug. This to be used to draw off ammonia from herring or slime from eels. Standing it up makes it more stable.

using it standing up i would end up cutting like the top third off. my truck has a cap on it. and access could be a bitch. but then again i really don't expect to keep a hundred of them. just don't want to regret making it too small.

shoot didn't realize we were that close..

Sorry...I was setting up for in the cellar. Build a craddle for the truckbed with a inch of pitch towards the tailgate and use one of the bungs for the drain.

Red, have you ever fished to the right of that spot.....where the really big boulders are??...I've seen schools of fish held up on bait straight out in that picture, dancing around them rocks...

Mike,

I thought I saw you out there in the wash......but it was only a seal looking for a tasty treat.

How many more days?

It's already happened. Several days ago a fish around 25-30 pounds was taken on the inside of the hurricane barrier.

A friend of mine was talking with one of the tugboat operators on the other side who claims he saw a small boat go through the opening, then hook up and land a nice size striper. He hailed the fisherman with his loudspeaker and had him hoist up the fish. He said it looked like a 30 pound fish -- he was looking through his binoculars and got a good view.

I think a small boat fishing chunks off Washburn wire in the Seekonk river could expect to hook up a 30 pound plus fish any day now.
