OR do I buy myself the Orvis Breathable waders and a nice schoolie pole - DING DING, give Iceman a prize - in fact throw him in a reel to go with that pole, certainly Ice can use another reel - we all need to buy more reels.........

GB, have Custom wrap Penns' 10 fter and 8 fter. Have Penn 704, 4400, 5500, 8500, and the new I think 5600L - the bigger Liveliner reel - love it.... Have little 7 ft' schoolie pole, I want something that can throw up to 1 or 1.5 oz jig, sick action, light as hell, can cast a mile, do you know of such a pole, I'm thinking getting steelhead pole and use it for mr. stripah???

GB, Spin Spin Spin, that's all I use.... Will most likely put 4400, 5500 or Liveliner on the pole...

Got it last year around want to say August - used it for the fall run with 30lb Fire - took a 35lber from Cape in September - no complaints with reel - real smooth, love the baitrunner feature as I mostly fish eels @ night - still too early to tell but I got it as a gift so no complaints here.....

Bloo - in new haven there is a fair haven but yes I would rather be 20 minutes from where GB is - Cuttyhunk of course. Fair Haven ain't the best of neighborhoods. When I'm in new haven area usually fish meigs point rip @ hammo or milfords' gulf beach, or w. haven sandbar even pennfield. But I usually travel the extra hour or hours to RI or the Cape when going hardcore! Saltheart thanks for coming to new havens defense - yes there was a mighty big fish that came out of new haven harbor, i believe it's hangin' in dees tackle shop? Anthony and GB - thank you for the recommendations on the schoolie pole - will look into it but "definitely" don't need another reel - well maybe just one? John, yeah I skated with those guys get Liam skating @ age 3 - I'll come down and skate with him! I'm a simple man, if I ain't with wife and baby - I'm playing hockey or fishing. Funny how it all really works, it's how your brought up by your family and what they do. My great grandfather played ice hockey and fished, my grandfather the same, my father the same, 2 older brothers the same, did I have a choice? Soooo GLAD that I too play hockey and fish, my dad taught me everything I know - and we both still learn more about each sport every day, you're never too old to learn and try new things. did my dad force me into either sport - no, told me i could stop any time. My daughter Gwen will fish and play hockey (she could stop at any time), the usa women beat germany 10 - 0 yesterday. looking forward to the men's competition, usa has a good of chance as any team, my prediction is it will between them and canada....

Valentine's Day - is a a real holiday or a commercial creation to get consumer's to buy really expensive flowers?
What's the best Valentine's Day present you gave/got?

This has probably been around a couple of times already, but makes for a good story. I hope that mean administrator doesn't pull it.......HAHAHAHAHA
A New Englander dies and is sent to hell. He had been a horrible man throughout life and even the devil wanted to punish him, so he puts him to work breaking up rocks with a sledgehammer. To make it worse he cranks up the temperature and the humidity. "Love my kingdom!" laughs the devil.
After a couple of days the devil checks in on his victim to see if he
is suffering adequately. The devil is aghast as he looks at the New Englander happily swinging his hammer and whistling a happy tune. The devil walks up to him and says, "I don't understand this. I've turned the heat way up, it's
humid, you're crushing rocks; why are you so happy?" The New
Englander, smiling big, looks at the devil and replies, "This is great! It reminds me of August in New England. Hot, humid, a good place to work. It reminds me of home. This is fantastic!"
The devil, extremely perplexed, walks away to ponder the New
Englander's remarks. Then he decides to drop the temperature, send down driving rain and torrential wind. Soon, hell is a wet, muddy mess. Walking in mud up to his knees with dust blowing into his eyes, the New Englander is happily slogging through the mud pushing a wheelbarrow full of crushed rocks. Again,
the devil asks how he can be happy in such conditions. The New Englander replies, "This is great! Just like April in
New England. It reminds me of working out in the fields with spring planting!" The devil is now completely baffled.
Angry, and desperate to make hell really hell, he tries one last ditch effort. He makes the temperature plummet. Suddenly hell is blanketed in snow and ice. Confident that this will surely make the New Englander unhappy.
The devil checks in on the New Englander. He is aghast at what he sees. The New Englander is dancing, singing, and twirling his sledgehammer as he cavorts in glee.
"How can you be so happy? Don't you know it's 40 below zero!?" screams the devil.
Jumping up and down the New Englander throws a snowball at the devil and yells, "Hell's frozen over!! This means the Patriots won the SUPERBOWL!!!

Hey, anyone catch the morning news today? Some guy named Patrick took hostages at Fairfield University last night in CT........
Now, I don't want to start a whole big hoopla or anything, just thought it was kind of interesting.
Happy Hump Day everyone

Okay, shifting gears to something more relevant:
the Providence Journal today has a page 1 story about the commercial fishing license issue:
"Tonight, state officials are unveiling thier first major effort to overhaul the state's commercial fishing laws and start a process they hope will lead to more flounder and lobsters and to a better livelihood for local fishermen.
...If passed, new commercial fishing licenses would be issued only for specific species, and only if those species are sufficiently abundant to support additional fishermen. Those already holding lecenses would not be affected."
I know most members here are recreational fishers, but how to you weigh in on this?
