The odd thing is that I wouldn't think something like that would happen around here. I wouldn't ever think of it actually. Maybe down in NJ or NYC...but not up here.

Maybe we should all get together the next couple weekend nights, split up and act like rich, vulnerable surfcasters, donned in 14k gold Van Staals, Platinum 10' surf rods and silver chains with 6" Striped Bass medallions hanging off them. I bet we could find them, or they could find us, then we could go for a 'swim'.

Seriously, does Fog Land draw any crowds or was this just random?

Fogland has always been a HOTSPOT for teenage party-goers...I'm surprised it happened this early in the school year though, normally it's more toward the end of the school year that you will find teenagers there most weekends...With the long entrance road, they have plenty of time to identify the police vehicles and hide any alcohol or drugs and just get asked to leave instead of being arrested. Surprisingly enough, the police DO make frequent visits to this area...however, with it being SO early in the out-door party season....they probably haven't included it in their "rounds" yet.

Sorry to hear about all this though, I fished that place once and know how it can be...You must have been right out front before the grass begins, that's normally where the punks do their hangin. Be careful with your other spot at the bend in the road, they ALSO party there on weekend nights...fortunately the local residents are closer to the activity so it doesn't get far.......police get called if it gets even close to loud. There's a good chance I'll be down in that area tomorrow night,,,, I'll look for any discarded evidence...they may have tossed the bags not knowing their worth....

I'd a loss my head if some kid grabbed my stick.... ...

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

More like the wrong place at the wrong time.

Too bad it wasn't one of those nights where the fog is so thick you can't see your feet. Lure them onto the rocks and they'd get lost

I wouldn't worry about fishing most places in RI...sure some random stuff happens but at night it's usually pretty quiet...and to be honest it can be creepy enough alone on the beach some nights

Just something to think about if people plan on purchasing cans of peppar spray. Many of the peppar spray products have metal parts, and you know what the salt likes to do with most metals...

I've got one daughter at 4yrs, and one son at 1yrs, the hand galf option is looking pretty good right now. I ALWAYS carry a blade on my chest or hip, but maybe something a little longer and intimidating might be the ticket.

The only problem is whatever you decide to use, MAKE SURE it doesn't get away from ya; or the other side will most likely want to use it back on you...

Leptar, just wanted to say sorry to hear about what happened...I'm new to the site and for the most part, the sport...looks like you've gotten some great advice, some of which i'm going to put to work myself. Fortunately, I've also got the buddy system working...thanks J.Sylvester...

Sorry to hear about your fisfortune but glad to hear your ok. Gives me something else to think about. I fish alone 95% of the time and the thought of slipping on a rock and breaking a bone (even with korkers) or getting swept away by a rogue wave lingered in the back of the mind, that or having my vehicle broken into or vandalized. Now this is something else to consider. I may have to give the pepper spray some consideration, I know I wouldn't give up my stuff without a fight. That being said it's a given these hoodlums are local and this is one of their hangouts. Some recon around the same time and place of said incidence should be done to locate said PMF's, get the items back and let them know that fisherman won't stand for this crap.

Glad you are ok, that is what is most important. The lingering thoughts as you fish the next couple of weeks will pass.

Used hard and put away dirty....
