John , here's my take on it. Do what you think is best because you will not please everybody. You are the one putting all the time into it should be your call.

as a sponsor, after hearing all the pissing and moaning about sponsor logos, i say keep the original design sans logos. it is a very unique and beautiful shirt.

Because there has been talk of shirts/ hats being made and sold for the past 2-3 years that I know of!!! and the only thing that has been made are some stickers!!!
(other than some hats only a select few have who were here from the start!)
I say the design is awesome if it were to please plug builders only , but there is more than just plug building on this site!!!
I say scale down the amount of plugs and add a few other there things to ballance it off !

Just because it does not please you does not mean it does not please a lot of other people that do not make plugs. Let's be clear, it does not please you and some others. That is a far cry from meaning that it only pleases plug builders as there are a lot of non builders that really like the shirt.
GB, I get your idea on the other style shirts but one of the reasons I went this way was that plenty of places have the simple bass - The Black Bass for example, other sites with a simple bass. I just wanted to be a little different - not a run-of-the-mill shirt...
The print of the bass over the guys shoulder in Game Over would probably offend some of the boat guys. Sandsleds would offend somebody, Flys someone else.
Here were my goals:
1) Do a shirt that nobody or at least rarely has done before
2) Do a shirt that showcases what a lot of the people on the site apprectiate - plugs, whether building them or fishing them.
3) Do a shirt, that if not a classic, would be well sought after because people like the shirt
4) Make a shirt that was at least somewhat worthy of waiting all this time through all of the other aborted shirt attempts.
5) Offest some of the costs of the shirt by enlisting some of the sponsors to keep a reasonable price for the members - it's not all about making money.
6) Tie in loosely with some of the events we've had, half of which have been plug based...
Not a goal:
Sell 500 $5 shirts at 15 bucks a whack and make a ton of money. Selling 150 of these detailed Tshirts will make me about $2 per hour for the time I have invested in it. If it was about the money it would be something vastly different.

I like the design, and I would try and buy one if you made them. I do agree with others that it doesn't represent the site as a whole, but that's not what was intended. After all, it does say "PlugFest East Coast Tour".

Nice shirt. I'm not much of a plugger myself but i would still buy a couple shirts to support this site. You've worked hard for this site and i appreciate that. This site has given me hours of enjoyment and carries me through the long winter. Do the shirt and you'll sell plenty

I like the concept and the art work is nice . a pocket would be nice other wise it is a winter shirt for me . I would rather not have the sponsers name on there but thats just me I remove the name on my truck too . so make em
I wear large .
someone said that the hats went to longtime posters hey as a long long time poster of some seriously useless info how come I didnt get a hat ?

I think I gt that from here on this site? I like the design!
But it might be copy right? Just used it for ex sample.
Like I said, on a site this big, John should have the moderators and himself (board of directors) make the shirt and sell them thats it, you like you buy, if no then you no buy.

I don't think anyone has a problem with the sponsors NIB.
It's just the huge logos don't seen to belong on the shirt with the nice picture, that is all. Has nothing to do with the sponsors themselves, we all know they want to help the site.

Guys - not taking any orders at this point. IF there is a run of these shirts I will have a second thread on it but it won't be until after the New Years...

John,
I think it a fabulous piece of artwork and would make a heck of a poster for the next plug fest with only a minor amount of tweaking.
As a t-shirt I'd have bought one to support the site, but probably would not have worn it. Then again there are lots of things I'd put on my wall that I would not wear on my back.
Warm holiday wishes to all, and my condolences to fishnfool.

Best regards,
Roger

I have pretty much kept out of this thread, not that I post much anymore, but I seem to remember many , many tides ago that some of the regulars (read not just plug turners) wanted some shirts and hats done. In all fairness I like the pictures of the plugs, but there is just too much going on in the shirt.
Now I am not sure who John is dealing with for the shirts, but I am sure there must be other contractors who would do smaller runs of the shirts, maybe even two different styles.
I think a more comical approach would be a striper sitting at a computer surfing the reports section to see where not to hunt for food....

Oh yeah, and Patrick, too.

John,
As a new guy to the site and a guy who designed a T Shirt for a group of guys fishing BI this year I can definitely appreciate your efforts. The graphics are first class and I would be honored to put them on a shirt if no one here can agree and you want to see your efforts come to fruition. I would also buy a couple shirts of whatever is decided.
Now as far as the sponsors. I think they should be thanked by everyone for putting in some extra $$ to keep the cost for the members down.
I know not everyone will be happy but if you used the design for a spring shirt and then do another shirt for the fall with the design help from everyone who has other Ideas that could be close to pleasing everyone. If that is even possible.
If your talking $20 a shirt then that should be a drop in the bucket for anyone who is fishing for S-B no matter how they enjoy catching them.
Thanks for the effort and time

I can't believe I just wasted a half hour of my life reading this. Crikey.
In answer to the original question, no I will not buy one. It's not because I'll only wear blue shirts. It's not because I need a pocket for my cigarettes. It's not because I use mainly eels and not plugs or because I think sponsorship of a t-shirt is wrong or because I wear only plain shirts or because I want something with a flag on it or because I need an XXXXXXXXXXL shirt in order to encompass every interest of every member of the site. It's only because RRC is going to get 4, and I don't know what he's going to do with that many shirts if he doesn't give a couple to me.

Thanks!
