Thanks for the warm welcome Raven, glad to be aboard here. As for the nerdy stuff, does it make sense that the farther away from the water I am, everything gets more complicated, while when I'm on the water for a consistent period of time, everything starts to simplify...tackle bag gets smaller, amt. of gear carried gets smaller, and quite honestly the amount of time for thinking about all the different variables and factors imacting the fishing and tinkering with gear just disappears, to the best of my recollection...

Okay,
You got me,too! I've been lurking here for awhile. I've been surf fishing for about 8 years. I've learned a lot from just hanging around this site and I don't fish enough to feel comfortable as a contributor, but maybe that'll change!

I am lurking!
Hello, new to this site as of today. A little about myself, fishing for the past 39 years, love fly as well as surfcasting, love making some of my own tackle (rods, flies, bucktails), looking to expand the use of my kayak.

My name is SlingBlades and I am a lurker....Whew, I feel better now.
New to chasing the stripers in the salt. Been fishing all my life, mostly LMB and some freshy stripers. Got back into saltwater after a hiatus of about 5 years. Love it again. Was referenced to the site by Thumb-burner, who says it is great for advice on plug building.
Born in NC and lived there all my life. Hope to see some of you at the OBX. Thanks.

Wasn't anything you said. Maybe we have to do more to convince people that life after Lurking is jimdandy...perhaps we should start our posts by saying "Its been 15 days since I last lurked and I feel great..."
Gotta beat the lurk-addiction one day at a time...

I'm usually on the boards a little south of here but I take a peek at this site almost every day. I might even take a ride up for the R.I show.

The problem with the Lurker only thread is it would go SLOOWWW...but in a way, this IS the Lurker only thread. How about a thread where the Lurkers post what they have learned on this site from there hours of lurking?

I would like to see a Daily Fishing Report thread once the fishing season(salt water) starts!!!
Everyone could report what they caught that day and what they used to catch and the area they fished(say R.I.,Mass., etc) so you would not give away spots!!!
This would at least let people know good fishing is going on or not!!!
The weekly fishing reports you read are usually outdated and don't tell you what is happening right now!!!

John,
I would be willing to donate a few items to a lurker incentive contest to flush out a few more lurkers.

I'm mostly a lurker, and when I do post, it's usually in the grumpy ole pharts or sports sections (The Sox are going to win another series before you and I die, BigFish, despite your current lack of confidence in all John Henry employees!).
My fish don't count as they usually caught from a boat, even if it is still in the slip (my 3 year old doesnt like it when the boat is on plane).
Thanks to all for the entertainment while passing the time from NOvember to April. If you cant fish, think about fishing.
