Interesting thread. i have two comments.
best place to buy plugs in my experience is at the winter/spring shows. They are often marked down for the shows (get there early) and many spnsors like M+D (Capecodtackle) are at the shows.
My second comment is that OCM is now on several peoples radar screens. i predict a short posting season for him.

Joe Lyons from surfcasting RI gets a huge +1 from me, I ordered some plugs from him the beginning of the season and had them the next day. He also went above and beyond customer service wise when he was out of stock on one plug I wanted. M&D is also a great shop to deal with

Original question... if you are looking local, need a place to get a plug in a hurry and/or don't want the shipping charge, Stratford Bait is porbably the best bet nearby. I am gonna work on Jimmy O's in Bridgeport and see if he can start carrying a good supply, although I am not sure how easy it is to get in the game with supply and demand and also Stratford Bait pretty near by. maybe he can be our local #^^^^^^^^^^^& supplier

If we weed thru the BS here there is a lot of great info.
Once you get a few good plugs you gain confidence in you will be all set. I only take 5 to 10 plugs with me and they are Needles, mambos and bombers. I have so much faith in the needle I never use anything else. unless it is live bait, nothing beats live bait

Slightly on the topic, not that this thread is off.
If you want to catch fish:
I would suggest going to a knowledgable shop where you can talk to someone about the place or places you like to fish and get a "few" suggestions of plugs to buy. Pay a good price, get good advice.
You could also look at a couple of articles, I think there is one by Steve McKenna on the Saltwater Edge site and one by Zeno on his site. Look for the common threads on what works.
If you want to collect plugs:
Ebay or the other place
Good luck fishing

Fantasy Fishing is much like Fantasy Football but one needs to remember neither is real.
Anyone want to go out for an imaginary pass and catch an imaginary touchdown pass?
