There's a priest just over the border in one of the more affluent CT towns driving a 7 series BMW completely loaded.

I disagree with you there Joe, this economy has nothing to do with Bush or any decisions he has made. There are major core issues with the foundation that was built upon the last 4 years of so. Its convenient to point fingers and believe we can get out of this with confidence, buts thats a pipe dream. Many more layoffs are coming, Holiday sales will be abysmal and the market will get crushed. We have another 15-20% to drop in the housing market. Imagine what that will do to the current problem. There is very little Obama can do to help this economy, his needs to be not to do anything that will make it worse.

Eisenhower, Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton - charismatic
Nixon, Carter, Ford, Bush 41, Bush 43 - not charismatic.
Its not nearly that simple, but consumer spending does drive our economy and consumer spending is dependent to a large degree on faith.

You're right, 72% of our econmy is consumer spending. I guess my point is that people are not going to spend because there is the very real possibility they may lose there jobs, the president has little impact on that.
I know my family has already had the discussion that we wont give gifts for adults this year, kids only.

Start a right-wing message board with a bunch of anti-Obama tees, stickers, coffee cups, hats. Your economy will improve.

Not bad, but that image would not print well and lacks resonance with people under 40.
One would need to come up with a cultural touchstone that is nearly universal, one that trancends all ages, incomes, and shades of white people.

I'm glad it is over with.
Not happy with Barney being re-elected by a landslide, obviously people in this state are uninformed
I have faith the country will get thru this economic crisis, if not, we're screwed.

Apparently 202,254 others thought he deserved another chance, I didn't and was informed.
You wanna keep a man in office that is not helping to fix what he himself had a lot to do with screwing up the fannie mae crap, go ahead, make your day(can he share his wealth with me, I could use it). Time to get out those responsible for F'ing up the economy. Who has he answered to? That whole bailout thing is a joke and those who profited can rot in hell. The other candidate would have done a fine job with access and fishermen issues, unfortunately he didn't get the chance,
this time.

Mac, that is funny

At least someone ran against Frank.
Down here, Delahunt ran unopposed. 70% of the offices on my ballot only had one candidate.

My fear is that San Francisco morals will soon be shoved down our throats with the likes of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid now in complete unchecked control.

I will sit here this morning after this historic and flawed (no, not flawed over fraud but by poor candidates) election and pray that Eben, Likwid, Spence, BssB, et al are smarter than me. I know Brian is smarter than me - he's an effin' scientist for cryin' out loud.
I now need to Hope that O will be a center-moderate Prez and that the 18% approval rating congress will find in their hearts the need to make rational decisions and not feel like they have the keys to the candy store. If congress does too much of this:
 ,
which is what I expect, we're in for a world of hurt.
I now need to Hope that our nations enemies will not feel emboldened, and should that happen, O can meet that challenge and the congress can develop enough spine to support O and that the right decisions will be made.
I hope congress does more to grow the pie, to support jobs and invest in technologies central to America's Technological & Entrepreneurial leadership in the world - before we get passed by. I hope congress does not choose to simply further divide the existing pie.
I hope that the viciousness of the (radical?) far left does not mirror the viciousness of the far right (Freepers) - for a bunch of peacenik hippies they sure seem to have a mean streak (and are in need a beating).
I sincerely hope that O can accomplish unifying this country in a positive way, support those that keep this country free (this is big in my book), and right some of the wrongs of the past 8 years.
Four years, the clock just started ticking. Do a good job O, and you'll have my support for the next 4. Turn us into the PRC or Europeanize our Country, then you in 4.
Godspeed, O
I'm fiercely Independent, and I approve this message
