Spector screwed, Now that's funny
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.rollcall.com/news/34648-1.html
Despite promises from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that Sen. Arlen Specter would retain his seniority after switching parties, Specter will be put at the end of the seniority line on all his committees but one under a resolution approved on the floor late Tuesday.

And here's the issue with registered voters. Specter's views and political position on issues haven't really changed. However, you only now start to criticize him because there is a -D at the end of his name instead of a -R. (Aside from the Spygate situation)
People in this country are amazingly unable to think for themselves. You guys right now are demonstrating how people merely jump on the partisan bandwagon.
Take spygate out of the equation and without doing some googling, tell me a couple of his policies that you disagree with now that he's a democrat in which you didn't disagree with a week ago.
These are the reasons few and few people respect the Republican party as a whole. This is also why so many reports of the Republicans needing to "change their image" have been coming out in past months.
I guess this week's Republican Kool-aid is Specter flavored. Enjoy.

What makes you assume I ever liked Spector? I don't drink the Kool-aid buddy.
It just shows you can't trust the Dems in power. They are two faced, hypocrites.
You really show your true Lib side every once in a while. You take to defending the far, far left way too personal.

He has always spent too much time "across the aisle" just like McCain does. They are/were RINO's and I never had a lot of good to say on either one. I voted McCain, because he's not a socialist. He has spent enough time leaning over to the left, that his one leg is shorter than the other now.
When I looked at the ticket I saw a Democrat and a Socialist, so I voted Democrat for McCain.
One good thing about this is in order to stop a filibuster they need one vote from the other party, with Spector gone, they may not have it.

I'm not defending anyone on the far left. This isn't a matter of me defending him because he's on the left. I would be saying the exact same thing if a dem turned republican and a bunch of left-wingers started bashing him out of the blue.
Your line of "You take to defending the far, far left way too personal" is exactly what's wrong with politics. Aside from the fact that Spector is nothing close to the "far, far left", this piss-poor attitude of "you're with us or against us" is why nothing gets accomplished in Congress any more.
Criticize someone that's on the Right, and you're a crazy liberal.
Criticize someone that's on the Left, and you're a money hungry Conservative.
There is no middle ground any more. A moderate political ideology is mostly unacceptable to both sides. And that's the issue with a two-party system.

Also, please explain to me how my entire post that was quite politically neutral "shows my true Lib side".
Stating that American's respect for the Republican party is faltering and they need to change their image? Sorry, already been stated by folks in the RNC.
The Kool-aid comment? Go to a half dozen Right-wing websites and 5 out of 6 are bashing Spector. And last week, 6 out of 6 were blaming Obama for the Air Force One episode.

Your not politically neutral.Your blaming people you assume are Republicans for pointing out the joke that the Dems played on Spector. Blame the Democrats. Not a word from you on what they did.
The famous 360K picture is being released I heard.

Johnny, none of these posts mentioned anything about Spector's policies. It was a comment about how the Dems said one thing and did another (I can't believe politicians would lie). Spector is a joke because he decides which party he's going to be in based on what is best for his job prospects. He would have been voted out in the primary if he remained as a Republican. As a Democrat, he'll run unopposed in the primary. Then, with a voting base made up of mostly Democrats, he'll win the general election. Self preservation is his only concern, not his constituants.
I think this is funny because he he tried to play the system and he got played himself. It has nothing to do with which party he's affiliated with. In fact, good for the Dems for not letting him keep his seniority. They know why he did what he did.
Your post seems to be geared towards taking a cheap shot at Republicans. This is about Spector getting screwed by his own party and has nothing to do with Republicans.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio

This is mostly why. And because 9 out of 10 people on the right that I've talked to or listened to have acted similarly.

And I still stand by everything I said. A friend of mine that is hard-core right *in philosophy* has been getting pissed because of how poorly the Republicans have been representing themselves.
Don't get me wrong, the Dems are not much different. However, they're playing the same "screw you and everything you want" attitude that the republicans are playing. I think they're being more low-key about it, keeping those actions in the Capital building, instead of appearing on every neutral or right-leaning news program to bitch.
It's fine to have an opinion and complain about bad policy. But lately, that's all I've heard from Republicans in Washington, complaints. On TV, Radio and print, it's been all the same. Maybe once in a while they should present a solution.

I disagree with his policy of conducting congressional or senatorial hearings into the so-called cheating by Bill Belichick, coach of the New England Patriots. Any alledged cheeating didn't have a thing to do with him. It only kept his hypocritical face in front of the cameras. If thats the most important issue he had to discuss on all those national shows, both radio and tv, in the last two years, then he shouldn't have been re-elected as anything. That being said, the only reason he jumped parties was to get re-elected, not because the grand old party was being hijacked by right-wing conservatives. To say any other thing is patently false. And its absurd to think that any reasonable person, democrat or republican, would think otherwise. I will further say that he gets thrown to the wolves by both republicans and democrats in his next re-election bid. No democrat that holds any stature will campaign for him.

Swimmer, I agree with you fully. He switched teams in an attempt to save his job. There is no denying that. I am sure a lot of people in here would do whatever possible to save their jobs, he's doing the same.
Now, I'm not defending Spector. I think he's an idiot, but I think a lot of politicians on both sides are idiots. Spygate was a joke. Cheating in a private organization that is not directly regulated by the government should be of no concern to the government. Same thing goes for steroids in baseball.
What was he going to do, present a bill that revoked the Patriots' Superbowl win?

Spygate was both a political and personal crusade for Spector. He's been an Eagles season ticket holder for years and even goes (or used to go) on a sports radio show in Philly about the Eagles. Politically, he made a big deal about it because Philly is a sports crazed town and he knew it would be something that would get him in good with the voters.
Like 90% of all politicians, he doesn't do anything unless it improves his own situation.
