Why don't you post a link w/ some info instead of just hearsay.....

Then people will have something of substance to debate

How about the section of the bill that states Viagra for sex offenders....instead of someone talking about making a bill against it to hold things up.....for manipulation purposes.

and for the record....I am not in favor of the bill...I think its a mistake.

It just drives me nuts when somebody throws something out there with no facts to back it up....and people go "Ahuh, A yup.....their gonna do that alright, I done heard it from somewhere"

Why would Viagra be offered to ANYONE for insurance purposes? Sex is an option. You can live without it (ask Spence). Im serious. this is the type of stuff that should immediatly be dropped to save money.
For example, a few years back, I had a pretty big skin tag grow on my neck, every time I shaved it bled. People asked me all the time what that was on my neck. When I went to the doc, they said it is cosmetic, insurance wont cover it. I paid the $140 to get it removed. Anything that is OPTIONAL should not be covered.

I agree.....And thats the angle they should play to try and send it back....Not the "NAMBLA Boosters are going to be walking around with a Government Issued Boner" angle

i agree
best analogy I heard on the helathcare bill is from congressamn lynch -
“Envision it as a great, big bus. The bus has a couple of flat tires and is burning fuel—it’s very inefficient—and what we’ve just done is put 32 million people on the bus,” Lynch said.

Most insurance companies will cover viagra but they won't cover birth control goes to show you that their decision process is screwed up it always either cosmetic or experimental until they figure out how to suck more money out of you.

Putting aside my opinion that pedophiles and rapists should be castrated, I have to agree with Jimmy's position. Viagra is non-essential. Why are any non-essential medications covered under a subsidized plan?

If a doctor can ever say "if you want to, you can, but you don't have to", then it is not essential and we shouldn't have to pay for it.

You could certainly argue that reproduction is a natural human function, and that some conditions would make a drug medically necessary for the person to operate as if under nominal parameters.

In the case of reproduction, then it *might* be needed. That's why there is an appeal process with insurance companies. However, ED incidences grow with age.

Recreational use of Viagra is growing quite significantly according to the below article.

"New research indicates that the use of Viagra skyrocketed 312% among men aged 18-45 between 1998 and 2002. There's also been a twofold increase -- 216% -- among men between ages 45 and 55, says Tom Delate, PhD, whose research analyzed data on medical insurance claims by some 5 million patients across the country.

...

Does this suggest a growing trend in using the drug for recreational rather than medical purposes -- such as for a sex enhancer?

"That would be my guess,"
Delate tells WebMD.

"What we found was that problems typically seem to start in a man's 40s and affected only about 40% of the men in these age groups."
Young Men Lead Surge in Viagra Use

The majority of people using Viagra aren't using it as a reproductive necessity, but for pleasure enhancement. I should not have to pay for more people to get laid - the wages that politicians use to pay for prostitutes should be enough.

Does that mean that you could make a case for having a prescription for roofies coverd under your insurance plan?

Absolutely. My doctor already prescribes downers to slow my brain enough to facilitate communication with the average folks.

At times I do fall of the wagon, but rarely do I post. Most of that time is spent building the noctron particle emotronicle.

You should get a new doctor. You've obviously been prescribed much too high of a dosage and you are taking them way too frequently.

And if you want a woman to be interested in you, give her 3x's the amount of whatever you're taking. I think you might have a chance if they're unconscious.

Glen Beck would be proud. This is a true fusion of entertainment with enlightenment.

This is one of those comments that only a sex starved geek could conjure up. My wife happens to be with a child and it didn't happen via immaculate conception
