I own this album. 1977. Heard it today on way home from work. This tune is so killer for the fusion guys. Lots of real good west coast studio guys. The bass and drums are so good and of course Lee is one of the best.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
That album, Capt. Fingers, was one of the albums the got me so interested in the studio musician scene and all the great musicians that played for Lee and Larry and the uncountable albums they played on over the years.
this was my fav song from that awesome Larry and Lee album of several years back that I waited sooooo looooong for them to do together... 2 of the best IMO.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
this popped up on the pod today. I still make the claim as the best unknown guitarist of all time. He could do it all from his signature telecaster rockin to blues to fantastic jazz in his Redneck Jazz Explosion band he covered it all. The fact he committed suicide a long while ago is just a shame.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
Luv this tune. Wonder if Page got any inspiration from P. Green on this tune because it sounds an awful lot like an early Zep tune, a little R. Ford and even some B. Gibbons thrown in.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
best into ever! Saw J Giels and they played this over their sound system before the show started and I was great to hear it in that setting. Sometimes I just play the intro over and over when I just cannot get enough.
Hot Fives and Sevens this week, seemed appropriate with Mardi Gras coming up
A couple pretty new ones and an older song I heard this morning on the way to work.
Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio
Raging with the Vermont/NH/NY hippies this Saturday night at Spartan arena in Rutland for last night of Snoe. Down. Heading up with an old buddy and meeting some others up there. Gonna be Strangefolk opening up for moe. Haven't seen strangefolk yet but here they are, along with the headliners:
They have a song called "Rather go Fishin" so they must be pretty decent at a minimum:
2nd vid is from the new year's run at the palladium I attended. They had fan sit ins both nights which were remarkably good given the fans were average joes sitting in with moe. I was so happy for the lucky fans I practically pissed myself. Fact is they were real good musicians and fit in perfectly.
Have a blast, Mike. You get to see the original members of Stangefolk too which is awesome because that is when they were at their best. Wish I could swing it. Here's something to get you fired up. Nails the guitar solo at the 2:50 mark....
Came across this album this morning and put this tune on. The band is awesome, Jeff Porcaro on drums, of course Larry never hired a slouch on any of his many albums. The solo starting at about 1:35 is right up there with the best and the reason Larry has been hired by pretty much the who's who of all music and TV since he started out.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
Listened to nearly all my Dan this week and picked this one for a bunch of reasons. Mostly because it is the only piece that I can think of with both Vibraphone and steel pedal slide guitar. Unique! As is Dan.
