It's my fault....
I took Luds out livelining macks on the boat and now he's all screwed up....

This site has had its ups and downs. Clammer and I were talking about the formative years vs. now just the other day.
Can't bring back the old days.
On the other site, posts bashing Noto for keeping that fish were reported and deleted..... ie. not tolerated
Here, all views are allowed.
That's how it rolls here. JohnR is not a dictator. He wants the site to police itself ie. by the members, for the members.
I wouldn't mind losing the political forum.....
Can someone fix this thread's horizontal spacing?

I need some work... People are holding off on writing deposit checks. Sux.
But it does allow me to fish every morning at 0530...

I don't think facebook has that much of an impact on this site,

I think it has alot to due with personalities, and if people get annoyed by someone they put up with it for a little while and then just stop coming back,

I hate politics... especialy when it involves fishing....and IMHO.. that's what this all boils down to.. everyone has an opinion, and they are entitiled to it..

fighting amongst one another solves nothing, if an individual dislikes the fact that an angler keeps a certain sized fish ( or legal limit) maybe their frustration ( for lack of a better term) should be vented at the law makers, not the individual ,that after all is within their legal right, the moral part is up to him (or her) to wrestle with, and if keeping an outsized fish or limit is what they want to do.. it's fine by me.. it wont effect my life, if I dont allow it to ... again it is the law makers that have decided that it is "OK" for this individual to excersice their right to keep a fish..

Normaly, this time of year, I'm too busy fishing to surf the web, I use my coffee and lunch breaks to see what every body else is "up to".... I like everyone I have met here, and to see friendships, weather ciber or physical get strained over beliefs, just doesnt make a whole lot of sense... instead of napping on my break ( I'm getting too old for this 2 hour sleep stuff) I spent the entire break typing this up... so guy's ( and gals) lets not argue over petty stuff, and this stuff IS petty.. fishing season and life itself is just to damned short...

It is easy to not give respect on the Internet...the Internet is it's own weird world...even in the real world a lot of people need some basic lessons on how to treat their fellow man...

treat people how you would like to be treated and respect that someone may have a different opinion than your own...

pretty simple...sometimes hard to do...

i miss reading reports and fish porn. with all the talent on this site there's got to be a funny story a week that'd be worth sharing. i've been lazy about reports and pix myself so i'll get on it. it can be done w/o burning up spots. it's still a great site just could use some good energy.

I love this place, and havent missed loggin on for a day in many years. Yeah maybe we all could do a bit more posting and what not. If i need some info on something this is the place. I dont see a lot of "use the search" answers to questions. I choose not to post pics of fish for one reason, 99.9% get released and im not gunna burn a spot. That was an early lesson of the internet for me. Im down with the tourney idea, a weekender, pile of plugs to the winner, if the fish is over 40 lbs its kept for the cup, if not photo proof of large gets the pile of wood. We could have a canal leg, M&d's could be the meet up spot, a SOCo leg, Camp cronin as the meet up spot, etc... Another thing that would be kinda cool, if we could get say 10 people, or whatever number if its an even number we draw numbers and ya fish with a partner. Strangers or friends whatever they are your battle buddy for the night. A great way to meet some new folks, see some old faces, catch some fish and BS. Hell even a evening at spot would do the trick. A plug gets ya in. Im down for a beavertail battle.

I will agree on this site being..."clicky"...seems difficult to find people to fish with.....which I would have thought with so many "members" that it wouldn't have been tough at all....I understand people not wanting to give up there honey holes, but I doubt meeting up with a couple guys at the canal for example is giving up your honey hole.....I was on this site for a long time under another name...I got discouraged...and left......came back to give it another chance, with the understanding that I wasnt going to "care" as much if people ignored my posts....or didnt reply to me asking if anyone wanted to go fish a tide here or there....some guys can post anything...and get 300 replies....while others can ask a legit question, get 400 views, and 3 responses....so I understand some peoples views....I am not a sharpie by anymeans, I don't have a fish over 30lbs.....but I fish hard, I am not a moron...and I enjoy fishing.....I fish alone alot, not because I choose to, but because alot of my friends are not into fishing....
Would like nothing more than to hit the surf with someone and maybe learn something, or maybe I could show them something that I do that may help them...I would have thought that would happen more.........Meet you at Beach X.....both new to the area so there is no "spot burning"...lets see if we can catch some fish......I dont see a issue with that....and maybe that happens more than I know...just know it hasnt happened to me...
That being said....I like this site....dont go to any other fishing sites....and will do whatever I can to make it better, or more enjoyable for everyone....

Best thing to do is to go to a couple of the fishing legs and meet a few of the people then go and fish with someone there, maybe go to a Cuttyhunk trip you'll meet about 15 hard core fishermen, I've been to about 5, the trips alone is a blast never mind the fishing part.

In the spirit of disproving the "insider" thoughts... There is a Cutty trip with beds for Oct 8-9. It is Columbus Day weekend. Historically trips are set up, and we have a period where past participants commit on a first come, first serve basis. We have ALWAYS had room so that first timers are included. That said, I'll set August 8 as the date where we'll open up the trip to those that haven't been before. Approx 20 beds, only about five commited at this time. It runs around 340.00 for food, ferry, and room. We bring all our food and drink, all do a share. No deposits for this trip, but if you commit, you are responsible, weather not withstanding. It is a physically demanding island to fish, so be forewarned. Hope this helps. I've met a bunch of people on here and fished with many of them - Circlehook, OD Mike, PRBuzz and others. Hell, fishbones and I butt heads all the time in that wretched Political Forum, met up a few days ago to buy a cooler off of him and I look forward to getting out and fishing with him sometime.

In all, every single person I've met from this site in person has been a stand up guy. Shoot a private message off to a few people you'd want to fish with - I'd bet most people would be willing to meet up. The canal is a great place for it, because the place is no big secret.

This site is filled with great people and I look forward to getting out with more members on these boards in the future.

personally i think this site is top notch compared to any other out there and that is why i stick here. the wealth of info on this site from guys with some serious time on the water is unreal. the very few i have meet from this site have been real down to earth with a no drama no bitchin lets fish attitude type guys if that make sense. thoes are the type of people i want to fish with.

I agree with luds. The board was to help people find fish, share techniques, and help with tackle. The board has evolved, and the type of help I thought people wanted was where you fished, what you caught, what you used, and how you used it. The goal being making everyone a better fisherman.

It seems that spot burning has become an issue. Details no longer needed, just say the CCB, using jigs or topwaters. I was not in competition with anyone so I had no idea. Other boards have been better about allowing general locations, specific techniques and lures.

Am FINALLY ready to hit the surf this weekend (I hope) and before long, should be at a couple of our favorite spots with chrisjoe13 and ANY LUCK.

This site may suck but just wanted to post this picture collage of what I consider fishing is all about: 3 generations of my family (both grandfathers, me, & son) sharing an outing on the water. Best of all catching my PB on the trip. When the rod bent, I "politely" asked who wants it and no one jumped, so I did! Nice 48", 37lb'er. This is now many years ago but memories are still there.

Isn't this what this site should be about?

Hands down the best advice you can get on from this thread.....

When I first hit this site I was the consumate Goog....just ask nightfighter

I went and fished a cape leg at M&D's once awhile back....met a few guys, one of the guys there, who I never met, took me down to the canal to fish. I think most people appreciate the effort of a face to face encounter. your not just looking for the easy answers.

Since then I've been to a couple of other legs, 6 trips to Cutty, 3 Plugfests and a TFCTFN. I have met numerous people that I actually fish w/ now.

another great piece of advice I got off this board was to join a club and get involved. I've met people there that I fish with also, as well as get together w/ in the off season just for drinks and dinner.

Like Clogston said...you can't just expect to pop onto a board and say "Fish with Me" and expect everybody to just bring you along. Get involved, contribute, and make an effort and you'll enjoy the hell out of this place.
