Condolences on your loss.

Such a terrible tragedy just before the Holiday of Rejoicing

Be very thankful for the times you did have together
and the closeness that you shared that some people never have

Your Dad lives inside of you now within your memories
and in those of others some of whom you may not have met.

Your family will look to you now for his strength
and for some of his personality that you inherited.

Very sorry for your LOSS John.

John:
I have been traveling so this is the first chance I have had to express Jeanne and my sincere condolences. I was shocked and truly saddened when Brian called me. I felt like I knew your Dad since, as you know, we were in almost the same business and not separated very much in age.
I will be at the service Saturday.

No boat, back in the suds.

Sincere condolences

I so sorry to hear of your loss, I lost my father when he was 67 ,it's just way too young. Same thing with him and my mom, --married young and seemingly forever. Your mom will need you to lean on and be strong for her. It totally sucks and no words can really help.Time does help some but it never really goes away completely. I got by, by remembering that dad was a good man and that I have to carry on and do my best.Remembering the good times helps too. I'm not sure if any of this helps but I thought I'd extend a hand and some thoughts. My thoughts and prayers are with you ,your family ,and your dad.~Joe Martins

Sorry for you loss. Condolences to you and your family.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

Please accept my deepest sympathies, losing your dad, especially due to an accident is a tough one to handle.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ...
show him where to fish and ... you'll be sorry

Goosefish,

Truely sorry for your lose. It will get better with time but will never go away. Last week Dec 6th was the 25th year without my dad. He also died in a traggic auto accident at 60 with my uncle and 3 good friends, 5 total. I was 18 at the time. He was the best dad there was. Not much of a fisherman but loved to sail and did his best to satisfy my fishing needs with trolling off the sailboat when I was a kid. Now I'm finding it hard to bring up those thoughts.

Stay strong and takecare of your mom.

Sincerely,
Jon

Thank you guys so much. So damn sad.

A woman called my mom this morning. She was at the scene of the accident. She got in the car with my father, stroked his hair, talked to him. Then he was gone. My mom told me this story. It's both beautiful and sad. So damn sad.

Goosefish,

I am very sorry to hear of the death of your dad. That's hard. We don't know eachother, but your post sort of got to me. I work in an ICU in a big, urban hospital, and unfortunately we see patients die. I am not sure why, but it seems comforting to me to know someone has not died alone. I have placed my palm on a dying patient's forehead, just to let them know there is another, caring human presence. I have no idea if it's helpful for them, maybe it just helps me. Under those frightening circumstances of a car wreck, it's amazing that a stranger was able to do that.

Maybe it will help to know that there's folks thinking about you and your mom right now.

Peace

It's always darkest just before it goes pitch black.

John,
My kindest thoughts to you and your mom. She
will feel his loss the most. Fifty years of marriage...
Big Fish's advice is good, get his photos out and even
bring some item he owned for his friends at the wake.
It's what he may have wanted. Take care of your mom.
God bless.
