Sid Wainer Outlet

Is foodie nirvana. Try their duck prosciutto in the new charcuterie section. Did somebody say Cheese?Oh, and the produce room is inspiring to say the least.New Bedford is making a comeback.

It's expensive, but worth it for some items. Always nice to be able to get funky veggies when in season you can't get at a regular store.

The selection of legumes is remarkable.

If I'm doing a dinner party I often go there first. Step number one when cooking well is to score the best food stuffs you possibly can.

One of the few stores that carries fennel pollen, exquisite on scallops seared in truffle oil. The ginger vinegar, which they import from Japan, is probably the tasiest accompaniment for toro available. It is not often available but splurge if you see it there.Wow!

Besides, where are manly men like Dangles and I going to get fennel pollen or French baby lentils in a pinch?

It's more of a destination than a grocery story. The food they give away for free on Saturdays is a big draw, and the ability to get great quality produce with a lot of a variety is a plus. There really aren't any good gourmet food stores in the entire area.

When you factor in the drive to the Boston area or shipping to get online it's not that terrible. Just don't get your cheese there as that is really over priced and aside from some special cheeses most can be had locally.

For cheese it's Formaggio Kitchen.Venda in Providence. Try the Grafton 5* cheddar if it's there.Humboldt Fog goat cheese is worth it too,put some on fresh bread with fig jam...

That produce store at the plaza is called "Friendly Fruit" which sells at low cost for a good reason.

Still say everything there is over priced . Quality has also gone way , way down hill with them . Can find same and much better quality , much cheaper through other purveyors .

we use them for work accounts, or we did anyway, way over priced and the worst customer service.

There display at the boston show is amazing though, great honey selection, mustards, cheeses, spices, etc. Some very tough to find items.

Baldor is great for speciality produce.

if your near providence try farmstead and La Laiterie in wayland square, awesome cheese and meats, and some of the most knowledgable staff ive ever dealt with.

Guess im spoiled being able to get everything from restuarant suppliers, one of the perks for being in this crazy business.
