Don't listen to Mr Fancy Pants Niko , if the vanity is in great shape John, there is no reason to spend the $250 (especially in my case if I would have had to order a custom size to fit the space.... )

RI Quarantine laws are kooky... I live 3 min from MA. Saw a clip on the news that If I grocery shop in MA I need to self quarantine for 14 days... that's just crazy.

This is an interesting read. After the couple of intro paragraphs, it is an interview with an infectious disease expert. Almost entirely apolitical.

My wife has worked at the same nursing home for 49 years this August. Started as a dietary aide, paid her own way through four years of college, got promoted to social service director, and has remained at that position through seven or eight different administrators. Loves her job and has a gift for dealing with elderly patients and their families.

Her mom, who turned 100 this year, is now a patient there, which has worked well because she gets to see her mom a couple times a day, other patients families are not allowed in the building.
Now an employee...a nurses aide..and at present one patient on the same unit has tested positive. So now, to visit her mom, she has to wear the full hazmat suit. Wrote her mom a note explaining the situation but she didnt recognizer her in that protective gear.

She's the pretty one on the left.

National Guard came to the nursing home where my wife works to test every patient, and all staff a day ago. Results came back and it wasn't good. My mother in law...and every other patient on that floor tested positive, as well as a few nurses and aides. Wifes test showed negative...for now.

The nursing home workers are at the brink from the stress and worry as well as working harder than ever because too many are not showing up for work.

Dang. Good luck to all of them.

My sister works for RI Dept of Health. She is able to work from home 4 days a week and is in the office 1 day (paperwork). She is severely Immunocompromised with a Lung Disease. One bad elevator button and she gets this. If she gets this she does not survive it.

The National Guard was at my wife's nursing home yesterday.. testing ..

I mentioned in a post earlier that management was blocking testing earlier and was confirmed that the corporate office had to approve testing of any resident..

The problem is just like the prison who never tested or screened staff early allowed it in.

But the managment is responsible for the numbers in nursing homes ,, one in fallriver had 60 positives... that doesn't happen overnight ...

Just this week after a person was tested postive after they left . Did they give the staff proper PPE n45 masks and gowns

And if the government hadn't changed reporting guidelines most of the family's staff or public wouldn't be aware ..

covid 19

My wife (ER nurse) and I talk about this pandemic daily as does everyone else I assume. Her sister is a nurse at a local nursing home. Where my wife works they were taught how to fit masks to their face. For some reason the staff at the nursing home did not get training. They should not go from room to room without changing PPE but it is happening! I'm not sure why? cost?.We have been bombarded with negative news for a long time now and people have really been put into panic mode. The press screams about 22 meat packing plants closing. A Google search showed info titled top 100 meat packing plants! that's just the top, how many are there? My neighbor told me he thinks it's a conspiracy to remove people from social security, he then proceeded to leave his trash out so animals could spread it about 2 days in a row, definition of insanity? Hope all of you stay well.Hope all can disagree without wanting to fight each other.

According to the latest CDC COVIDView report, increases in hospitalization rates for COVID-19, which are cumulative, have started to level off. The hospitalization rate is highest among adults 65 and older and similar to what has been seen during a comparable time period during a recent high severity flu season:

My mother in law got her stimulus check today, the sad part of that is she has been six feet under for several years. Right next to her name it has the abbreviation for deceased, only in this administration can we send out god knows how many checks to the dead. Well if you lost a loved one during this, if you feel like rolling the tax penalty dice, you can cash their stimulus check when it comes in.

Been wondering about that stimulus check thing. My dad passed in January 2019 and I got a check for him. It has his name and DECD, but also has "c/o my name". So it's not a legit check?

I got nothing IRS website says I don't exist. I owe them income tax for this year and if I don't get the check for myself and for my wife, I am NOT paying them. We'll see what happens.

If you got a stimulus check for someone who is deceased (DECD) you have to return it. Apparently on the front of the envelope it came in there's a box and it says, "IF RECIPIENT IS DECEASED Check here and drop in mailbox". Then again I read something else that said NBC had posted that the IRS may let heirs cash the check, so I think I'll just hang on to it for now.

My wife showed me a picture of one of the nurses at the nursing home.....her face raw and nearly bleeding from wearing protective masks and headgear for the last few weeks....I'm not ashamed to say it moved me to tears. Real heroes...I know her and she is one tough broad.

If you have were using the IRS website every day and gave up, give it a shot now.

If you had not filed 2019, or like me have to pay every year, they do not have your bankfile easily available so you were put in a null box. It took them a couple weeks to get the website sorted but worked for me last week. Stimcheck is in my account today.

Washington (CNN)Federal stimulus payments sent to people who have died must be returned, the Internal Revenue Service said in new guidance released Wednesday.

In a rush to get stimulus payments out as fast as possible, some of the money was sent to people who had died but had filed taxes within the past two years.
The IRS has to cross-check with another federal agency to get a list of the deceased.
It was previously unclear whether family members could keep the money, but the IRS now says the full payment must be returned, unless the deceased was married and filed tax returns jointly with a spouse who is still alive. In that case only the portion of the payment belonging to the deceased needs to be returned, the agency said. If the couple received $2,400, for example, $1,200 needs to be sent back.
If a check was received, it must be mailed back to the Treasury Department. If the check was cashed or the payment was directly deposited into the bank account, the IRS is asking people to send a personal check or money order. Further instructions were posted online by the IRS.

Short piece on how Coronavirus has improved fishing.

https://www.today.com/video/why-fish...rt-86041157750

I just took my daughter out this weekend; gonna try yak fishing with my 22 year old nephew next week for the first time off Rockport. I realize that we don't really want a lot of new googans out at our favorite spots these days, but I'm thinking this is a chance for a lot of us older folks on the board to maybe pass the fishing baton to a younger generation. I mean, fishing's been declining a bit in recent years, and this might help the younger folks get into it some. Maybe we can pick up some old(er) age fishing buddies too!
