PBR gets a bad rap and they sell 'em for a $1 at the avenue in Brighton on Sat. Night. Rolling Rock is pretty bad, my old roomate used

And I was basically raised on that schlitz, not that I will touch that stuff anymore. And yes, icehouse is still made, far more common in the south though.

I'm with you on the Miller Lite. Tastes good and it is less of a gut builder.

I'm also a fan of Dos Equis. I lived on that stuff when I was on my honeymoon. Ever hear of Bud mud? Well Dos Equis mierdas are 10 times worse so be careful.

Raven, There are actually a Lot of good beers on the market. The Micro brew revolution really got brewing good beer into the mainstream.

30 years ago you had pilsners....as far as the eye could see, and that was about it. ocassional Guinness would pop up.

Good beer back then was St. Pauli Girl or Heineken.

Now you can go in a liqour store or "Packy" and get Porters, Stouts, Ales, Lagers, Heffewiezens, IPA's, ESB's, Belgian Abby Ales, Barley Wines. The list goes on and on. Beers with Fruit (Raspberry Wheat, Strawberry Blonde), Beers with Chocolate (Chocolate Stouts) , Beers with Honey (Honey Wheat), Beers with Maple Syrup (Maple Porters), beers with Vegetables (Pumpkin Ales, Chili Pilsner

).

There is a smorgasboard of good and great beers out there now.

You want a taste treat for fall...have a Black and Tan made with Guiness and Post Road (or any other) Pumpkin Ale....

Haffenreffer was the beer that gave you the best bang for the buck

Your buzz never seemed to go away when you were drinking those...stayed with you for hours.

Bad choice if your planning on sneaking past the parents that night.....Got me nailed in high school

I don't like pumpkin flavored anything, but a friend got me to try a pumpkin ale at a local place with a huge beer selection last year. I really liked it, especially the cinamon flavor. On a side note, the place where I usually go does a thing called "beer flights". It's a take off on wine flights, which apparently are pretty popular with the wine crowd.

You get four small glasses, each with 4 ounces of a different beer in it. You get to try a total of 36 beers over the course of time. They have everything from seasonals, largers, pilsners, bocks, Japanese beers, etc.. This is something to be done in multiple sittings for obvious reasons, but it's a great way to try different types of beer. The good looking bartenders at this place don't hurt either.

Some brewpubs do these beer dinners where you pay something like $35 a person and get a 4 course meal where each cours is paired with a pint that goes with it. Not a bad deal for $35-$40

Where's the place you usually go?

How about Heffenreffer?
I used to live across from the brewery as a kid.
The fun part was those puzzles under the cap.
Our policy was that you couldn't move on to your next beer until you solved the current beer cap puzzle.
I leaned on a couple of occaisions why it was call "the green monster".

I stick with my earlier choice of RR, and I'll go as far as saying that any kind of Bud gives me the heaves. I do agree that Coors/Coors light are glorified donkey pee.

How about those cheap beer nights in our youth with others like Keystone, Lowenbrau, Naragansett, Schlitz? I can feel the bile rising as I type.

That sounds good. I'll have the mac n' cheese kids meal with a Magic Hat #9.

I usually go to the Stoneforge Grill in Easton. They also have locations in Raynham, Plymouth and Foxboro. Very good food and 36 beers on tap, along with about 50 different bottles.

Give me a GOOD American beer anytime too. Too bad that most of the good American beers, aside from maybe Sam's, are from the small regional breweries.

DAMN straight Kev. I can remember many a night with a 6pack of them nice fat green bottles. I wish I was still that young. 4 Haffenreffers and chase it with a 5th of Southern Comfort. I thought my name was RALPH a few times after that just stone drunk

The matz beer balls were the best. We always got a few of them for the dorm at Wentworth. Man did we have some wild times. We'd go hunting down all the Simmons chicks

Its all personal taste.

In the end, if I'm trying to market Bud Light, drinkability is probably the best thing i can come up with. They know that noone is looking forward to that pint of BL at the end of the day - BL's target market is looking forward to that 6 or 12 pack of BL at the end of the day.

Light beers in general are kind of a scam to begin with (and fighting over who has the lowest carbs is even more of a joke - alcohol has a worse effect on weight gain than a few carbs). Drink alot of beer (light or heavy) and your going to end up fat and unhealthy - I know that from experience. Have a beer here and there, weather heavy or light, and its actually good for you.

Has to be one of the worst beers ever! Corona is good on a hot day with the lime! I have enjoyed the Harpoon line of beers!

Boy Salty...you brought back a lot of hazy memories with those 2! First in our dorm to sneak a beer ball in (Catholic college....yeah right!) Then we "procured" a water fire extinguisher...emptied it, filled with Heffenreffer (green death) pumped it up and brought a new meaning to "Keg Stand"!!! Ahhh the memories of a .9 gpa freshman year!

Miller Lite is pretty good and it's refreshing. I can drink Lite or Bud when doing stuff around the house or yard and neither fill me up if I have a few. I like Bud but refuse to drink Bud Light and I like Lite but can't stand regular Miller or Genuine draft.

If I'm out at a restaurant or bar and don't plan on drinking more than a couple, I would rather go with something more filling and with more flavor.

You're absolutely right as far as personal preference being the deciding factor but IMHO the last word I would use to discribe Molson, Heiniken, Becks or Grolsh would be watery

A nice little 1/2 pint of schnaaps tucked away in the jacket is always nice.

Hot Chocolate with kahlua or baileys (or both) works or Hot Apple Cider with Cap'n Morgan will warm you up

when your done and back in the house Guinness or a nice Porter

I used to shovel with a flask of Southern Comfort in the coat pocket. Now, I have my driveway plowed and only have to shovel the walkway, so not much of a reason to drink.

This is really gonna make me sound like a Nancy boy, but I love Peppermint Schnapps in hot cocoa or Godiva White Chocolate liquor in my coffee when I'm outside playing in the snow with my son.
