Don't know Flap, I would be interested in finding out those numbers. Don't you think those fish taken by "sportfishermen" were worth a hell of a lot more to themselves than 1.00$-1.50$ a pound?
I mean we are talking about stripers here, 1.00$-1.50$ a fricken pound!

I have been away from the computer for a while and was excited about seeing what was going on in this forum. I have to say its disapointing to read f-bombs and threats from you two in this thread. CLean it up.

until stripers are declared a game fish, this will go on up and down the coast. not begrudging anybody, a lot of us were commercial at one time or another.

On this issue you really can be a conservationist and a rod and reel commercial. If you don't help meet the quota somebody else will. Either way, it will be met.

Different kind of trolling JR...
For me this wasn't an issue of Rec v. Comm. I just thought the way it was asked it was baiting us to get on S-J for his commercial status; we sold a few bass in years past, to me it's not a big deal, luckily I'm at the point where I can fish for fun and work for $$, but if you do it to supplement your income and it's legal, then I don't have a problem, especially b/c it's rod and reel...
S-J if it was a misunderstanding I appologize, but I think you went about sparking a debate all wrong...

I'm, not smart I just fish and wouldent think of someone drawing fire onto themself by saying something, I was really thinking w/ $ on the line how many people highgrade and what is the penalty for it I honestly know 0 about boat fishing but my buddy has alot more time to fish this year so Im givin' it a go is that so bad? like i said I have spent 15 yrs on the sand only 4 or 5 trips on the boat ever but it was cool to me ..

I was just trying to see how the masses felt about this subject, didn't mean for it to come out like it did.
Some of you have been on this site forever and have most likely discussed this stuff more times than you care to remember, well I haven't. I'm not saying it's wrong to fish commercial for striped bass with a rod and reel, I'm just upset with how it is managed and most of all how it is enforced.
Sorry to all who were offended, even you Chris!

S-J try a poll or somthing asking about it, much lower stress then the way you worded it... no harm no foul on my end...

S-J I think that you will find that 95 percent of the board would rather no commercial season. However as long as people are obeying the law, I have nothing against it. if you don't like it, start a movement against it, you would find many supporters.
