It was one of those mornings when nothing was hitting. It was a Spring morning, fishing with a friend at a point near my house. I'm pluggin away with nothing to show for it, and I wasn't paying attention because I was laughing at my friend, and then it happened.......I hear a huge splash, turn and look and all that is left are the "waves" ( not ripples ) from where my plug was sitting. I rear back and bang I'm on....nice couple of runs ( the best I've ever had ), I fight back and forth, after sometime I have the fish maybe 10 feet from me, ( this is where I mess up ) I try and pull the fish towards me and it comes to the surface...all I could see was the top fin and the tail.....I'm not great at guessing this stuff so I'll be conservative.....they were probably 40" apart. No sooner after I see that......you probably already know.....it spits the plug at me....and that's it. No hits, no bites, no nothing all morning, and I have had visions of it ever since. The fish may not be big by some of you guys standards, but for me it was and still is the biggest fish I have hooked before. I guess that's why I'm so hooked on fishing....I know we will dance again...this time I'll be ready.
