He said booze vision
I like to go fishing whenever the occasion arises, or as long as I don't push the envelope too much which has been alot this year.
Even if I can only get our for a few hours, it's better than sitting home staring at this computer at night. Come to think of it , I may just run out the door when the wife gets home at 8.

Some comments are just too funny to ignore. All in fun.
Yes I'll give both Patrick and Mindi credit for showing up and fishing at the 4th leg. They both did well.

Instinct, yep. That's what I use. I'm not saying it's based on skill. It's about being in touch with nature. Going back to a more primitive side. A while back, I came to the conclusion fish act on instinct, why shouldn't I?
When we were in Rhode Island. Mindi and I moved off to the front of the shop to just chill on the front stoop. I told her I didn't want to go. Wanna know why? I didn't have the feeling. And whattya know? The big skunk.
I'm not saying it's 100% accurate but it's accurate enough to where I trust it.

Fishing on instinct....
I put ALOT of time in fishing for striped bass and I can tell you this, Many, Many times I have been proved wrong. I have caught some of my biggest Bass on nights were I wasn't motivated because of the weather and tides. But you know what, stripers don't read the Striper Handbook and many times they are not where YOU think they are supposed to be. Yes, as I stated earlier there are places that I prefer to fish on certain tides and winds that increase you're odds on a cow. You do have to be out there to catch fish, NOBODY can say it doesn't feel right and guarantee that there are no fish around. I can pretty much ALWAYS find atleast A Fish on Any given night from April through November regardless of conditions, (Even if "IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT"), just depends on where I feel like driving to. What's getting Skunked?

If your not wetting a line you can't catch them, just wish I had the luxury of all the time in the world, maybe then I could use my instincts to pick the right days/tides/winds/locations. Until then, I grab the fishing time I can and consider myself lucky.

Well well well.
Since we like to attack people on other boards because we lack the nuts to do so. This is what my mom calls, "Sinking to their level"
If I make a post, I fess up to it. The live lining method is called the Dog-Run method. Second, THE KAYAK AT THE RACE POST WAS NOT MINE! Jesus Christ. The Race is all the way up the freaking CT coast. Most of you know I don't drive. Do you think I'm going to paddle up there or perhaps sprout wings and fly my ass there?
Why the hell would I go to the race when I have plenty of great fishing spots here? Middle ground, Sunken Island, the Dumping grounds, Can 18, the spindle, Black Rock Harbor, Bridgeport Harbor, Southport, Mill river inflow, Penfield Reef and Tidemill bridge. Why would I paddle to the Race?
I just don't get SOL. For as much as they don't like me, they keep talking about me like Mindi said. For all I care, all those people who say the negative stuff can go screw themselves.
Now me fishing. As I recall. Who was it fishing when everyone else was sitting on the rocks talking? Me and Mindi and RedCrbber tossed an eel for a while. Who was it suiting up when you guys said central beach or east beach was too big to fish? I believe it was me, Mindi, Saltheart and Smokey. (It should be noted that Saltheart and Smokey actually stayed) Who was one of the first to suit up when everyone else was saying the waves in front of the Andrea were too big? Could that be me again? Gee, I think it was. I only called it quits when I saw the birds moving out. And yes, Mindi and I had to leave early because Chris was nice enough to drive us to Fairfield and we had to be up early the next day. We felt enough of an inconvienance as it was, we didn't want to see Chris wait around for us to get our ducks in a row.
I'm not saying my instincts are perfect. I'm not saying I'm perfect. And I'm not saying the fish always cooperate. And I'm definitely not saying I'm the best angler around. But I truly believe that when I hook up, it's more then luck. I take into account what time of year, what time of day, tide, wind, skys, presence of bait, presence of birds, and everything else that surrounds me. That's what I'm referring to when it comes to instincts. Anyone that has fished for a while, knows MOST of the time, fish act in patterns.
And yes, sometimes I do fish when I don't have the feeling and yes, sometimes I hook up when I don't have the feeling that there are active fish.
It's a sad world these days when people have to go behind ones back and crack jokes. That's called being a freaking coward. Grow a set.

Well said..love
By the way, I never meant to imply that you all weren't doing tons of fishing on the weekend in RI, I got there late. and patrick would have stayed out later if not for the fact that I was beat and we had to get up early. Anyway, we had a good time, coming home to more crap on SOL is no surprise really...lol..

Allright guys, I think maybe we have gone adrift here.
I can take a little ribbing. I can have a wicked sense of humor. Hey, when I was shown the picture of the tuna caught in the Ditch, I even laughed. I have nothing against a little joking and I can take it. In fact, when I read all the responses on here, I laughed.
Now when you put this over on the other site, it turns from joking, to malicious slamming. I know it's hard for you guys to see it because all of you can still post over there. I can't. Over there, it's an open free for all.
So let's end it with this. I am a fisherman. I believe in my instincts. If you don't, then don't. What do I care?

BM, Whats goin on? Just got back from Rhody this morning, LOTS of Fish around with quite a few LARGE...Heading to Montauk tommorow for the next two nights, gotta love the fall! I'm up for fishing with ya anytime, just gotta remember I get a shot at you to buddy.....Let me know when you're up for it. nights are getting longer and you're gonna be praying for a shorter night..No 4X4's where were goin....
As far as the plugs go, I have half left of what I got that night :-( Had it with not getting the plugs I need so I'm gonna make building my little winter time hobby....
Patrick, You're awfully touchy there Bud...I know I never said anything to try and put you down, just sharing My Experiences. ..I Fish ALOT...Can't always trust that "sense", If I did then I would end up in my nice warm bed on those Stormy, cold, wet November nights, Instead I chose to get pummeled by waves, swept of rocks., and catching fish...Gotta be out there to catch em...

Cowhnter,
I have nothing against you. In fact, I have nothing against anyone really but those that insist on perpetuating trouble over on SOL. None of them know me. The ones I've met up in Rhody would probably agree I'm a cool tempered guy, quiet, and kinda shy. It's just when these people take shots at me for no other reason but to draw attention to themselves, it kinda annoys me. It's hard to believe but I really don't like the attention. I fish my way and I'm not asking anyone to change, just saying how I do it. Guys were pissed when I was dishonest, now guys crack jokes when I'm honest. It's a no win situation.
BTW, I usually do best when it is rough. That's when I get the feeling there are fish around.

Jenn, I didn't see your post until I finished my last one.
I always have fun when I fish. Doesn't matter if I catch or not. The friends, the people I meet, or even just getting out there by myself stretching the muscles. It all feels good. I'm not going to deny catching doesn't feel great too. I honestly believe salt air is a therapeutic for me. As soon as I smell the salt (even though I can't from my house because of all the traffic on the nearby streets), once I do, it's heavenly. Makes me forget all the troubles.

Having fun fishing. Great idea!!
OK , We bust Patrick and he fights back and thats fun but........ I don't like you using this board as a launch pad to fight with people posting on the other board. You lost your right to post there so you can't reply.
Don't get this site involved in your problems over there.

Saltheart,
Shouldn't it be a two way street? Why do they have to bring what I say over there?
I wouldn't have done such if DaveS had just kept it here.

I'm not talking about fair. If I was talking about fair, I would say, here some folks bring what I say here, over there where I can't respond while anything I say here, they can respond. That's not fair in my opinion but I'm not talking about fair.
What I'm talking about is what's right. Allright, what I say, some would consider assinine. But here, DaveS brings what I said over there. DaveS was the first to link people from "there" over to here in this incident. Isn't HE the one who is guilty of starting the mingling between both sites? You get a dozen or more people taking pot shots at ya, and you have to retaliate. No one goes for that "bigger person" junk anymore. I tried that. Look at the negative campaigning political candidates do. No one values the bigger person anymore. People value who can kick someone in the marbles.
I just don't see why my wrist is being slapped. I didn't start this. I posted honestly and Dave decided to bring it over there. He caused the problem on his own terms. Shouldn't he be the one getting his wrist smacked?
And Slipknot, no two wrongs don't make a right. But if being wrong is what it takes to defend myself, well so be it.
Karma folks, Karma. Stuff comes back to haunt you and even if I'm kicked off of every website in the world, I'll be in shadows laughing when they get theirs.

Patrick---if you persist in making an ass of yourself publicly, people are going to persist in laughing at you. It's really all that simple.
I know DaveS. He's a tough, dedicated fisherman who's been tonging big bass since before you were born. You have any idea of how tough he is physically, how hard on the body it is to jig up big bass from a place like the Highlands Bridge? Or what a beating a guy takes on a REAL jetty in rough conditions? When you post crap---and that's what it is---about Knowing "instinctively" based on "all your years of fishing" (yer 19 years old, fer godsakes, how much "experience" do you honestly think you have???) when it's a waste of time to go---you're fair game for guys with 30 years or more under their belts to tell you you're as full of it as all of us here are trying to tell you in a nice way.
There's a lot of crossover between this site and SOL. Lots of guys are cross registered, and there's even more who read this board and don't bother registering. The whole internet is an open book. You have to know that when you make a public fool of yourself, there's gonna be a backlash at other sites. How long is it going to take you to learn that one, simple fact?
For most of the two or so years you've been an internet "presence" you've basically regurgitated things that you've read as representing your personal experince, and throw out half-cocked ideas that John, in his infinite patience, lets you eat gracefully. You still do the same things on WMI because most of the people there are clueless. I still lurk there, too, and you always seem to avoid adding the disclaimer "so I've read" or "I've been told" whne you pass along tips to guys in Texas or Florida on fishing you know nothing about. Whether you realize it or not, you're a legend around the 'net, Patrick the Wannabe "Expert". Whenever I take a position supporting your reinstatement at SOL, I get a flood of e-mails and PM asking me whether I've lost my mind. Your history precedes you, and IMO it's a case of reaping what you've sowed in the last two years. You don't act the same way here, and I hope it's out of a respect for John and his efforts in trying to keep this board an open, honest forum--but I also wonder if it's partly because you know you can't snow anyone here with blarney.

my 'mature, considered response'
Patrick told me to let it die. I guess he's becoming the more mature of the two of us...in any case my point was proven. Patrick could be long gone and people will still have nothing better to do than run their mouths. They succeeded in showing everyone that they have nothing better to do that pick on someone half their age who hasn't even been able to post in ages and whom they've never met. That's the funny part of this whole thing. They call patrick a loser with no life, but what does 42 posts about someone they've never met or talked to in ages say about THEM?
By the way, my responses were as mature as their comments. Talking about my 'time of the month' and the size of Patrick's genitalia shows that they lack the capability to understand a mature response anyway.
Now at Patrick's request I'll try to shut up, unless someone says something else that I have a burning need to respond to.

I don't care how tough Dave is. It's not like I'm going to go out and pick a fight with someone over stuff that happens on the internet. Jesus, I'm not 8.
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I was dealing with grown ups. I guess all some of you care about is waiting for someone, specifically me, to put his neck out a little bit so they can rabbit punch me. If that's how you want to be known, that's fine. You want people to always wonder if they can talk frankly around you without the fear of you running around, that's fine too. It's your life, live it however you want to.
Karma is very real though. One day you'll pay for everything. There is no such thing as a free lunch. One day down the line, you'll look back and regret what you've done because something will happen to you.
