It's really neat to see a photo of the fish with his brother-in-law Karl who - from Church's own account - was instrumental in taking that bass. I spent a lot of time in small skiffs rowing as a kid and really appreciated that aspect of the story -

Will do Crafty and thanks for the offer - next trip for sure! During the winter, I love doing road trips from the Worcester area. Get clearance from the family unit and make a day out of it (sometimes they come).
This trip I hit the Power Plant for some fishing (skunked), CMS, Edwards (closed), the Handy Lunch for some eggs and baked beans, SWE and then Quaker Lane on the way home. Can you tell I had some Xmass cash to burn!

Thanks for all those details ,,,truly amazing,1913 and he's fishing with an 100 yr. old reel,,in rough seas no motor just oars in a 13' boat ...that fish definately counts...

Don't know for sure Crafty, i would like to believe that the men in those times were true gentlemen and sportsmen as thats how they were portrayed in all the stories in the outdoor books and magazines i read in the 40's -50's.
However.my Dad was the greatest gentleman i ever knew but, "he worked in profanity like an artist worked in oils and clay".  " For cats sake" i don't know for sure! |

Crafty, I wonder if the Allen House, would let you reproduce that photo of Mr. Church and his Brother-in-law, it is a nice shot.
