Dammit..Well just got the results from her hearing test today at Mass Eye and Ear..no improvement, and there is significant nerve damage. Poor girl has to go back in for a Cat Scan this month. They believe she has a condition that will follow her the rest of her life. She will be unable to play any contact sports, not that she is much of a ruffyin..any type of blow to the head could diminish whatever hearing she has left. Hopefully the Cat scan will prove them wrong ..Damn this really sucks. Hardest thing to do is just sit by..Wish i could take it all on myself, sometimes its just not fair..She is such a bright and vivacious little girl. She really lights up rooms..Luckily she has a great spirit that shines..When she was told she had to go back in for the scan she said "you only get what you can handle..." hard to believe she is only 6 sometimes...

PM sent as well.
Chris, keep you chin up buddy. You need to stay strong with her. she needs to look to you for strength. She needs to know she can be as strong as you to face these things.
And if you need support - you know when, where, and how to reach me.
Nothing is as important as your love and support. And don't let the experts convince you or her that anything is impossible. The experts are wrong often. Strong, spirited people continually surprise the experts every day.
I know I cannot imagine the heatache of watching your child suffer, but remember you have support.

You're a good father and have a good kid there. She has the right attitude which will help her cope. It is natural for you to grieve when you realize your child has one problem or another. My own son has struggled with one thing or another since he was born but we get thru it one way or another. Sorry to hear the bad news I hope the future gets brighter for you and your family.

Sorry to hear this Chris, but you will get through it. Enjoy everything else she can provide and try not to dwell on it. Technology is rapidly improving in this field so someday there will be a cure. You can only keep a straight head and chin up and things will get better.

Great looking kids you have there Chris! As difficult as this is keep the faith, see that she gets the continuing medical treatments show her our love and count your blessings. That is all you can do.
Seeing your (or any) child have to go thru all this is gut wrenching. Press on with whatever treaments are suggested. Little kids can bounce back from amazing situations. Your love for your kids mean more to them then any gift...even at age 6.
She is in our prayers.
God bless.

A friend's son was born with all kinds of hearing problems. He wound up with occhial (sp?) implants, did well in school and is up for a college scholarship for baseball. Don't give up hope, get a second opinion if you haven't already, and pm me if you want the rest of my friend's story....good luck

Just wanted to say thanks for the well wishes from everyone. Yesterday just hit me kinda hard so i was venting, gotta be very strong around her and the family..So when i get a chance to feel it, it sucks....She is so great, they both are. She will definetly come out on top. She knows the worrying is my job, not hers. Hers is to be 6 and have fun and be silly, and she does a bang up job at it ...I will continue to give updates on here because it just helps, hard to always carry the load..I don't mind the job, just sometimes ya gotta take the pack off your back for a breather..Ya know

we understand totally . if speaking here helps you through it , then by all means . your going through a tough time as a dad , we all feel your pain . lean on your daughter for support sometimes ( she stronger than both of us ) it will bring you 2 much closer and its healthy for kids to see parents are normal . Please dont appologize just vent and keep yourself healthy for your family .

Chris, I would never underestimate the resiliency of youth to persevere in situations like this. You know I'm going thru it myself with a little one, but hang in there, vent when ya gotta, cause it does no good keeping it inside. I'll have a word with the guy upstairs from time to time, too. Let us know.

Just a quick update..Thursday/tomorrow morning we are headed back into town to Ma Eye and Ear for more tests. She is in great spirits as always and as any 6 yr old should be. My fingers are crossed and I have been talking to the man above hoping for some good news tomorrow. She has been doing her job, having fun and being 6.. I have been doing mine, praying and doing all the worrying. Hopefully this appt is gonna nail down exactly what we are dealing with and give us direction.... I would give up fishing, hell I would give MY LIFE to take all this on myself and spare her from even one more shot, catscan, operation, Dr's visit and all the other stuff that no 6 yr old little girl should ever have to deal with...Just venting... see ya'll friday...

I have a idea where you are coming from. I have a 9 year old dauhter that has special needs. It took my wife and I a lot of visits to many doctors to get any answers. Man this was hell.
The one thing I did find was they will not tell you anything that you don't ask . Needles to say we asked as many questions we could think of.
The greatest thing of all this is the way my daughter lights up when I come home. All the other crap in the world dosen't matter.
So I guess my point is keep up what you are doing .Sound like you are doing a great job
And you have a little girl that will love daddy for ever.
Your family is in our prayers.
Jeff

Just another update with my daughter, we have been in and out of the hospital alot lately, I have missed alot of work ..
She just got diagnosed with Rholandic Epilepsy, on top of her hearing loss, she has been losing her sight when she has her siezures so she is scared as all hell, to be honest. Scares the hell out of me too. So that has been my focus lately...Family first, you know how it is...She is at childrens hospital right now, but I couldn't afford to take a day off again, or else I start losing my car or their house..Now, on top of all this she now has to go see a cardiologist, they believe that part of the sight loss could be related to her heart.
When is someone gonna cut Danielle a break.......
Sorry, just having one of those days, but I can't let her see how bad this is killing me. I am feeling pretty angry.
