On tv its ok to swear as long as you throw a bleep between the F and the you, bitch and ass is fine too, who's makin the rules. Now socity wants to program the word Christ?....you don't hear them pushing happy holiday during other days off. As christians we to teach our kids not to feel uncomfortable expressing our beleives. I think we can all agree we need to respect each other no matter what the faith or whether we beleive or not....with that said they are disrespecting all christains in taking away the word Christ and God. I don't think the bad are out numbering the good yet but if we don't set the example for our kids religion will be taught in homes behind closed door so that knowone will be offended. Truth always prevails!!

Tony;
you make a good point regarding religion should not have to be taught behind closed doors etc.. I agree. I'm not a religous guy as people may have guessed from my posts, however I'm not anti religion at all. More of an agnostic I suppose.
Anyways. I guess I dont see the big deal in a municipal program trying to be a-religious and call it a holiday tree. To me it's not a big deal. And hopefully regardless of religion or lack there of, people are teaching their kids that all religions are ok, if thats what you believe.
Thats my 0.02. Like I said I wouldnt support a world wide ban in calling it an christmas tree, or going the 'Futurama' cartoon route where in the future, Christmas is called X-mas.
All valid points, so lets unless since I dont practice a religion I'm viewed as in which case you can all
Happy Holidays everyone, back to work

I agree, TV in general is in the dumpster. All shock value, no quality.

I just feel as though it should be called for what it is. A christmas tree. If you do not wish to call it a Christmas tree don't. But why does it have to be announced to everyone that it is officially the Holiday Tree?
I work in a hospital and I just don't get why some offices can not even put up a Santa Claus Cut-Out if they want?

Merry Christmas everyone....I am going to set up my Christmas tree tomorrow..Anybody want to come over and see it?? sssh..I will be dressed as Santa..Dont tell anyone tho..Xmas is a religious holiday.Yes.But look at how many "different" people celebrate the "same" holiday but yet call it a different name..IT'S A tradition....Everyone needs to relax and let people celebrate how they want to and call it what they want to and not try to push their beliefs on everyone else...
There is room for everyone

Been really busy - missed this thread.
Its a Christmas Tree!! That's it!! No more debate.
The other day my family & I went to cut down a big green tree at this place that had a sign that said:
"Christmas Trees".
Then we hung these bright funny colored things on it called:
"Christmas Ornaments" and "Christmas Tree Lights".
(Actually, I went fishing for a couple hours while they hung the Christmas Ornaments on it Sunday night. )
Then we made a space under the tree for these crazy things called:
"Christmas Presents".
Oh, and by the way, since my soon to be 6-year old son was born on December 25, his birthday is on:
"Christmas Day".
What the heck are "holiday trees", "holiday ornaments", "holiday tree lights", "holiday presents", and "holiday day".
Give me a break.

Well, if it forces the Christmas Tree Shop to change its name, I'm all for it
I used to wonder how my ex could drop a deuce in a place where the most expensive item was $6.99. Then I looked in her bag one day and found 30 bottles of suntan lotion. "But it was only $1.99 a bottle". Great, a 30 year supply---I guess the fact that there was an expiration date on the bottles and PABA loses its effectiveness after a couple of years never occured to her

Another great Seinfeld episode. It's still on my DVR, I might have to watch it again before it's deleted.

People can call their tree whatever they want, but who gives a crap, honestly., They arent forcing you to call it a holiday tree. They arent mandating that all the trees sold must be called Holiday trees. They, being a government, which is supposed to be seperate from church wants to call it a holiday tree. big F'ing deal

This country would definitely be a whole lot better off if there was more of a "live and let live" mentality.

He's a 300 lb. Guy with an Overeating Disorder who Binge eats about 3 billion cookies every December 24th (Doesn't say much for the Obesity Problem in this country) and who has a Penchant for suits made of Crushed Red Velvet (Now if this was San Fran or P'Town, Fine)
He runs a Sweat Shop 365 days a year 24/7 ( Unfair labor practices) and its manned by Elves (they prefer to be called "little People")
He Hitches up a bunch of animals and Beats them into the ground every year (PETA, need i say more) and then sneaks into little kids rooms plying them w/ Presents in the Hopes that they will start writing to Him (Now it could be innocent but if Micheal Jackson did it...Whole different story)
Don't even get me Going on the whole "Bad or Good, Naughty or Nice" thing

i enjoyed this thread
well...i think if they wanna call a christmas (more-christ) tree a
holiday tree from now on.....then it will be my right to have a holiday tree for every damn holiday of the year... and there's 15 of them!
just think about that.... the possibilities are endless...
On Easter you play easter egg hunt around the tree.....
on president day you break out the president ornaments
4th of july ....decorate with just red white and blue
on halloween you decorate the tree with allot of orange pumpkin lights and hang candy all over it
well you get the idea.....
i'm planning on establishing a christmas farm with hundreds of
christmas trees that will never be cut and always be lit up via solar
powered batteries.... what are they gonna do next make christmas caroling illegal.... too society needs a bitch slap.
