First Striper of 2006

Since I believe the Fall run is over,(pun intended) I'd like to get a few thoughts as to when the first Bass will show here in RI.
Now I know Clammer says they never leave and Nebe catches all Winter but I am not talking holdovers.
The earliest I ever caught migratory fish was in 97 when we had a real mild winter and we got fish at the West Wall on St. Pats Day.
Opinions???

No boat, back in the suds.

I'd say 3 rd week in march is usually a good guess with some variation year to year.

No. I don't believe that to be true. The first fish have sea lice on them.

I remember that year because I got 8 or 9 I believe on Sunday there which was the 18th - the earliest I have ever gotten them. Not sure on whether or not they were holdovers or not though. They are for me the first "ritual of spring" bass, even if they are dropping out of there holdeover spots becuase they are "running" and not in the holdover spots.

Wink the bass

would have to be a keeper first of all
and be photograhed having sea lice
(shhhh for a plug i'll draw them on ]

but seriously with the way the ocean currents and temperatures are changing so drastically nothing can be considered abnormal for
earlier dates especially when fish like sheepshead from florida are traveling all the way north to new england....
