Interesting that there are not any Yo-Zuri knock-offs? They must be hooked up with the Tong.

Yo Zuri is speculating that their brand loyalty will offset the loss of some vendors. Nothing is spontaneous with them. Most shops will just passively raise prices.

Note how the prices raised were not across the board, but very targeted: with the highest percentage increases on the products for which there is very little competition and a high degree of brand preference for Yo-Zuri. The Mag Series has been out for a while and has beaten down the competition and made a lot of believers. I'm not a fan of corporate greed, but I suspect they got a lot of people very convinced they need a Mag Minnow or Mag Darter. They'll get letters and lose a few shops - but they will most likely be successful in gouging their customers.

I got a response from Yo-Zuri, they say the ifo we have received is incorrect and they were worried that I was mad about the situation. They gave no explanation of what is happening and so I e-mailed them back to ask that they clear up and inconsistencies and also asked them to please come out with a 7 inch series Tobimaru, Mag minnow/darter and Crystal Minnow as well. We will see.

Why even try.........

Which info? I am definitely paying a lot more for Mag Darters from distributors. My understanding was the new pricing went into effect back on Nov. 1st.

Received another e-mail from Paul Michele at Yozuri this morning. It's true, mag minnows will be going up to 14 to 16 dollars and Tobimarus back to the 10.00 dollar range with some increases on other models. His first e-mail response was very defensive ( COULD SOMETHING i HAD SAID IN MY E-MAIL IRRITATED HIM?) oh well, oil then gas, now fishing lures. He must have calmed down. He said the price desrease was the distributors fault several years ago and Yo wasn't making any money on the major lines. I will take his word for it.
Mike, got any Mags in green/bronze back? I want 'em.

Why even try.........

Didn't you know? They're made of oil!

In all seriousness I've never used their plugs because I thought they were overpriced already. Now they're going to make them even more expensive.

What's next the line?I've always used the Hybrid intil being turned on to the Backcountry.I'm only one guy but I'm one guy now who will not be using any of their products.Others must feel this way too.

I did too. Mike's paying more wholesale on the Mag Darters than I paid retail for them a couple of years ago.

I have plenty of the Crystal Minnows and Tobimarus. The only ones I'm a little thin on are the Mag Darters, but hey, there's always the small Gibbs.

I got a Basspro Inshore catalog yesterday and was just thumbing through it.

8" Surface Cruiser=$21.95!

How about them Daiwa Saltigas.$18.95

A much better quality Superstrike plug can be had for almost half the cost of the Yo-zuri.

Wink email from Paul

I got one to in response to the one MikeCC asked we send.

Really wants to know why I`m so mad.... Said he had only got a couple of emails in the last few months regarding these increases...

I think he thought I was a retailer and sent some info. I cannot divulge here regarding potential profits.

Their nice but not that nice plus I have so much plastic already... more than some stores have.

Mike

Good health and family
