Thanks Guys I'm back for the weekend and off to Cape Ned#^^^^& again Monday. He had an emergency quad bypass Sunday nite and it's been a tough week. It is absolutely humbling how fine a line there is between life and death even with all the meds and machines they have these days.
He's better and off all the pumps etc, but still in ICU. The weekend will tell more. Doc said if my mum hadn't just about beaten him up to get in the car he would have been dead within the afternoon.
Ted thanks for putting the word out too. Hope to get caught up more this weekend.

Would like to say something here too guys...
This is applicable to anyone young or old.
Don't ever ignore symptoms of a heart attack. My dad kept it to himself for 1-2 months that he was having intermittent chest pains. He finally felt ill enough that it affected him and he told my mum while standing in the middle of the driveway on Sunday he "just didn't feel well" and as said earlier he was within hours of death according to the doctors.
Some things I've learned this week is that it affects people all different ways, some of which the symptoms you would not associate with a heart attack. Something as simple as a persistent right shoulder pain can indicate a problem, or even pain in your teeth too!
And if you smoke, QUIT NOW! My dad quit smoking 18 YEARS AGO and they could STILL tell!
Off the soapbox

Tell him good luck from the Bombas...my grandfather had emergency open heart surgery in 1974, then an artificially induced stroke in 1997...he called me the other day to ask when I'm getting my freaking boat out of his yard...pray hard, we will, too. God listens a lot.
Later,
Rick

He is doing much better this evening. He was transferred to the cardiac floor today.
He has walked several times. Mum says he looks and sounds much better and looking forward to coming home sometime this week.
Thank you all for your thoughts and especially your notes.
Wonder what 7 days in an icu costs

That is certainly good news!
Coming home is the best feeling.Staying in the hospital for more than an overnighter sucks.Coming home in itself makes you feel better.
