just took the old box off the top...

the thing would not budge with just marine silicone holding it on. had to cut all the way around to get it off. im pretty sure a strip of glass will do the trick

im reformed luan is much easier and cost effective.. pics in a couple days.

even more cost effective is your idea with the backing board... whatever that is called. thats like 8 bucks a sheet, right?

yup. Its called hard board I think. but its the same stuff that pegboard is made from, just no holes. And the pine I used as a frame was like $12 a bundle. I used less than 1 bundle. So far my cost is around $40.
