I think it's just better to shut the thread down for further posting, but leave it where it lies. that way, a thread isn't singled out as being a bad agrument, which is what moving it to a separate section would do. I don't think there's a need to draw further attention to a thread gone bad. the parties involved all know who they are, but it would be good to leave it there for all to read into the future so people can go back and read it for entertainment, which is really what they are. like somebody said, everybody stares at a car crash

I'd rather see people argue than practice "group think"
Groupthink is a type of thought exhibited by group members who try to minimize conflict and reach consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas. During Groupthink, members of the group avoid promoting viewpoints outside the comfort zone of consensus thinking. A variety of motives for this may exist such as a desire to avoid being seen as foolish, or a desire to avoid embarrassing or angering other members of the group. Groupthink may cause groups to make hasty, irrational decisions, where individual doubts are set aside, for fear of upsetting the group’s balance. The term is frequently used pejoratively, with hindsight.

People need to be respectful of others plain and simple
a little "group think" might not be such a bad thing...it's just a fishing forum after all.

I don't think group think is necessary at the expense of original ideas. Go out on a limb with your ideas. The problem we are having is not in restricting someone's ability to voice an idea or people voicing their ideas. Usually the stuff that gets squashed is because of the pigpile and nastiness just getting stupid. I do think pi$$ing contests for sport can be pretty stupid.

well I am glad my opinion was pretty well accepted! I am all for voicing opinions but if there were complete and totaly "free reign" I dont know that it would be the great site that it is. I havent browsed the other sites in YEARS....because of the stupidity.

In my opinion the internet and this forum especially are not the places to call someone out or express your personal conflicts with other people. If you've got a problem thats what telephones and E-Mail are for. Say it to their face or dont say it at all, because we dont care.

I don't know who said this "If we are not man enough to accept different views of others, then we really are not man enough.
We all have different ideas about things, but to put someone down for their view is not rational. Just present your view and agree to disagree and move on.

I read a story about this woman in Nome, Alaska whose husband lost it one night, went into the center of town in his underwear and started shooting a shotgun off.
What bothered her was not that he went out-of-control drunk, but rather that it was only November.

Why the need for all the fights? Is it because we want the sport of it? Or do we just want to see a good bloodbath or train wreck? Or because so and so made fun of my friend, I'll get him?
To hear that some people tell me there are less fights here than other places, I dunno, seems like too many here.

All I'm saying is that sometimes , the best way to handle things is not to delete what was said but to lock it and make people live with what they have posted. I am not saying nothing should be deleted or moved or edited. Just that sometimes , it may be a bigger deterent if people have to live with what they said instead of the very people who post the worst stuff asking to have the threads del;eted 5 minutes after they post it.
